Ar Pump Splitting Apart At Seems?

I had a Honda 9 HP, 3000 PSI machine with a 3GPM AR pump that I recently sold. This machine had worked great for me for about a year and a half. I have had no problems with it at all. It worked fine when it left my house for shipment. However, the person that bought it said that he started the machine up and used it for only about 15 minutes and the pump split apart at the seems. Can anyone tell me what may have caused this? Would not turning on the water in time do it? Not refilling the pump with oil? He wants his money back and to return the machine. The problem I have, is that it worked when it left here and it worked when he got it (even though it was just 15 minutes). I promised no warranties and don't know what he may or may not have done to it. Just curious on what could cause the splitting apart of the pump?

Call AR pump in Minn. and ask them, 651-636-0046. Sounds like it overheated from no pump oil or no water flow. Those things get hotter than a firecracker before they burst! Caution!

did you

drain the pump or add anti-freeze?
How was it shipped? If air, it could have froze.
even trucked it could have froze.

First off, does the person know anything about pumps??? I had an AR pump with one of those integrated unladers, and the unloader failed. THe pressure was so high in the pump that it actually puled the head bolts out of the case. IT would look like a seem, because the head split off of the crank case.

I live by the motto, BUYER BEWARE!!!!

You sold used goods, and that that in my opinion...

I really feel for you and the buyer, but facts are facts...

I would make him send the pump back and have a repair tech look at it and see what caused the problem...

The problem with Buyer Beware is that it has to be written on the contract and signed for it to hold up in court. When you sell a car the contract has to say "AS-IS" or you get the car back whenever it breaks down and he gets his money back. A new pump is probably as much as the whole machine and if you have all the signed as-is papers - call him up and advise him he now has a new boat anchor. If not, you do.

For once Indiana Jones I think we see eye to eye on something...

I just hope WFSTOTT did the same... C.Y.A.
