applicator tip

I'm working for a brother in law of mine, who has a very successful painting company.. I'm not used to doing repaint *prep*.. I've been doing alot of vinyl siding ,decks and driveways. Vinyl siding is the easiest money i've ever made..
#1 .. I went out and bought alot of quick saving devices..to make things go a bit easier.. The #1 thing I bought , that now I wonder how I did without it is.. An applicator tip, that pulls chemical and shoots about 30 ft.(not an X-jet. this was $11).... And I bought some house wash, @ $24 per 5 gallons.. I can tell you later what's in it.Mix, 1/2 gallon of that to 4 gallons of bleach. Works great..!! This little gadget, has made my job 10 x's easier. I wish I was told about this thing before now. #2......What do I need to focus on as far as re-paint prep ? I've never done any painting ,of any sort , for a living.. What do painters want, as far as "from" the pressure washing side.. I'm sure #1 , it being cleaned. But do I need to apply pressure to every inch of the house? Or can I let the chemicals do the work, and give a good rinse ... Thx.

When I paint prep I always let the chems get the dirt and mildew off then I go over the whole house removing the loose paint and finding any rotted wood. Make sure in your estimate you tell them you will remove loose paint and find the rotted wood, that way they have no suprises.

?

So do you use a yellow tip and more pressure to find this "rotted" wood ?

Or you can spot it , by flaking paint?

So, what is the tip which shoots 30 feet???????? Sounds good............

I use a 40 degree tip. It does not take much pressure to find any rotten wood.

Well.........

It's an application tip I bought from a pressure washing store.. NOT NORTHERN TOOLS...

I can take a pic of it, and post it here. I've only been pressure washing for 2 years. So this thing may have been out for a while. But i've never heard of it. It's $11 ..not $150 ...like an X-jet... I realize X-jets can be handy for running harsh chemicals ..

In reply to Henry Bockman.. Is it worth buying a more expensive house wash, as opposed to bleach ?

Thanks----------TAKE THAT PIC AND LET US KNOW MO INFORMATION ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a pic of it........

Here's the tip I used this week. Saved me alot of time ..

I'm going to keep it short this time...

Bleach is the most effective chemical for removing mold and mildew but there is always more to a house cleaning than just removing mildew. Most homes have other types of surface dirt that require a good house washing chemical to lift them off the surface.

With the right chemicals you can clean the average house in a little over an hour. Without them, it could take you 3-4 hours.

I agree

I agree.......... I buy a 5 gallon of "super wash" per week. I use it very sparingly. It makes my job alot easier... spend money to make money..!!

Grime, that is a glorified zero degree nozzle, it doesn't compare to an X-Jet. I guess you are using a downstream injector to get your chemicals on? The problem is ratio. That is why you need so much bleach. I am not against downstreaming if you are using a good one. When you get to a stucco house that is black from mold and carbon buildup, you are going to wish you had the X-Jet. Pros have the right tools for the job.

fUll steam

I would assume it's alot of fun carrying around a 5 gallon bucket of chemicals,to get the job done.. This little gadget works great. Perfect ratio of chemicals, and no burning of plants..and gets the job done quicker than an x-jet. I've never used an X-jet...but was talked out of using one, unless you're spraying some sort of acid on a driveway.. i respect the advice I've recieved, and things are running smooth.. #2. We did a strip mall made of stucco this week, and things worked out GREAT,,!!!!! So good luck carrying that bucket around. :p

GrimeDog send me one dude---------I will try anythingat least twice!!!!!!! Let me know something. THANKS

if.....................................

you can't find it there, i'll send you one. It's an $11 part.

All you need is a zero tip, 1/4 in meg tip. Buy 3 or 4 of them drill out the center to about 40 or 50 degree tip. It will pull the chem from a downstream injector up to 250 feet of hose. Add chlorine bleach and a soap for surfactant and clean away. It will clean off any algae or rinses well. Screen enclosures are perfect for this set up in FL. The frame gets algae all the time. 75 bucks for about 20 minutes of work. Wear a hat or you wiil be bleached blonde!! Have fun, JIM
