I agree, someone out there spent a lot of time, money and probably slowed down some jobs trying out what they invented to see if it worked (slowing down jobs causes delays, more payroll, more costs, etc...) so when you look at the big picture of what it really took to make that pole with the magnet and blades, there really is a lot more to it that you will never see or probably think about.
Sometimes there is a great tool out there to make our jobs a lot easier, faster or does a better job than the way we currently do things but it cost more money than what we can afford or what we want to spend on that new tool.
Figure out how much time it will save you on the job, how much easier it will make the job and if you will be able to do the job better. If it will do the above then time to save the money to get that tool as it will pay for itself in a short time. Sometimes the tools are very expensive and it might take months or a year to save up but then when you have that tool, life is usually a lot better.
