Hello Every one,

I'm looking to start my pressure washing business here in Arizona, but I have a few questions that I'm not able to resolve. Can any one out there answer a few of my questions ?

1. Why is it that every time I pressure wash my driveway when it's all dry I have yellow stain marks on concrete????

2. I have talked to several customers and they are turned off of the idea of pressure washing their driveways because as soon as they drive their car into driveway tire marks are there. Is there a sealer that I can use to prevent tire marks?? or how would you tackle this obstacle ??

Thank you very much!!

First, Welcome to the forum. We have a few people from Arizona, some even know a thing or two about pressure washing.
Second, please go to User CP to enter a signature. House Rules
Third, Though some have had luck doing residential in Arizona, I have not, and I do not know of many that have. That might be part of the problem in selling you services. Mot of us specialize in commercial.

Thanks for your reply Scott,
Where can I go to bid for job in the commercial line ?
Welcome clazo! I agree on the residential point that Scott made. There is potential in residential here, but more in commercial, in my opinion. I have done a house wash that had mildew on one of the adobe brick homes in Oro Valley. If you are going to shoot for residential also, I have had that comment about the tire marks too. A plus to that would be like you said, to upsell a sealer or some sort of coating. In most cases, you will have to get a Registrar of Contractors license to apply the coatings. Check out their website for the details azroc.gov (i think). There are a ton of different options out there for sealers and coatings. Home Depot has some products, but I would try White Cap or Sherwin Williams on Speedway (their commercial store).

On the commercial side, there's many ways to get work here. As you asked to get a bid, I just learned from a fellow Arizona PW'er about "Bluebook". You can sign up for a fee and be notified about bids in your area of work. You have to do alot of searching to find companies wanting bids, but I mainly focus on restaurants and starting to hit the property management firms. With these, you just have to go out and talk to them, send them your info, cold call them offering free demos, etc. That's how I've got all my accounts so far. Only a couple jobs I actually bid on and won, but they were one time jobs.

Also go to the local pressure washer dealers and give them your info. They guys at Boyd Equipment Co. (Landa Dealer) are great. They gave a customer my info which turned into a nice day of aircraft parts cleaning.

Good luck, there's plenty of work here in Tucson, you just have to find it and be persistant.
