Algae removal from pontoon boat

A customer I completed a deck for yesterday asked about removing algae growth from his pontoon boat.

What is best for this type of job? I don't want to do it and wasn't asked, but am curious as to how one goes about this. It is an aluminum pontoon and the customer stated he uses muratic ?sp acid.

What do you experts in this area say?

the customer is correct
use the muratic acid as a first step then a good truck wash as a second step. use hot water.
Hydrofloric acid will work also but will turn the alum white and alge will stick to the etched surface faster.
suggest to him to check out www.everbrite.net as a coating after its cleaned.
