Algae in Water Tank

If you have another pressure washer or a way to feed the pressure washer without this pump, I would disconnect that tank, open it up and spray some bleach in there, let it dwell and then rinse it out a lot or add some basic pressure washing soap and then rinse it out good then you are good to go.

OR

Just put the wand in the tank and blast it off the tank then shut down the pressure washer and drain the tank and rinse it out with a garden hose and that should be good.

I doubt if the algae will hurt anything but clog your filter screen which will mean you will have to clean it.

I would not put any chemical in the tank while it is connected to the pump, I would not take the chance.

I'll try your second choice tomorrow. Thanks!

I always have added some bleach to the tanks. Never had any issues.
Put it in let it set and fill the tanks to use.

just fill about 20-60gal worth of water and get a scrub brush and scrub it. Drain, rinse then look at it and repeat if needed. I would never put bleach in it. just dose'nt sound good for the pump.

That might be hard to do in a 250 gallon tank.
I am talking about 1 cup maybe 2 cups of bleach in 150 gallons

Paint the tank so it's dark inside.

That's a great suggestion. Algae needs sunlight to thrive. I assume painting the tank a dark color might work.

I would also assume that chlorine would not be good for the seals in your pump. Maybe a cup or two, but would that be enough to be effective against the algae ?

This is the quickest and most safe method.

I put bleach in mine, 6% (2cups) when there is about 75 gallons or so, let is sit over night with cover open, then next day drain it and use a garden hose nozzle and rinse, then add a small quantity of clorox bleach and fill it with water (525 gal)

If was tick or really bad I would pressure wash the tank out.

The water in my area has high amount of chlorine, most times I drink refrigerator filtered or bottled water, whenever i drink city tap water I can smell it sometimes, hence one of the reasons I think may tank does not get algae that fast. What water are you filling with, city or well?
