air diaphragm

Eric, do you flush it out at the end of the day or end of the job?

I know that Pressure Washer Products in Clearwater sells the All Flo air diaphragm pumps that the roof cleaners use, not sure if that is the same model you are looking at Nick but I think they are kynar bodies so they hold up better. I believe Larry M. at All Surface uses those and has had good luck with them.

Its all we use. Been through just about every 12 volt pump they make that claimed it was chemical resistant. Bunch of BS. The All flo is the best pump I've ever used. You can run anything you want through it at any psi and not have a worry in the world.

Yea, these all-flo's are definitely a great pump,..they pump great at about 80 PSI through 1/2" hose and never stall if a little WD-40 is shot into the air inlet of the pump every now and then. I've had mine for 4-5 years and it has never lost pumping capacity. As far as rinsing goes,.mine gets rinsed with about several gallons of water after each use,..simply because I like running water through my hose reel and hose, ... the pump is also plumbed into a water tank that allows me to turn a valve and run clean water through the pump, reel and hose,..right back into the solution tank,.. so I'm adding water to the roof tank for the next mix,...works out well.

BUT, mine froze up and broke about a week ago, but I was gonna replace it this year anyhow, so no big deal. Was only replacing due to "figuring it was time"

Jeff, if the mechanism inside the pump let go its about $60.00 for the replacement. I've done mine twice now. I've also acquired 2 more for backups. One I had to buy while waiting for a part to come in and needed a pump right away and another was given to me by a local contractor who went out of business and actually gave me his.

Thanks Larry,..yea,..I'm not gonna trash it just yet,.'cause I'm not sure what broke,... I just know it worked,...then got really cold one night,..and then it didn't work,...not leaking...just isn't pumping or even making any sounds,Ha,Ha,.. I will get another one and maybe try to fix this one for a stand by.

Do these pumps require the large air compressors to run?

From what I have seen and been told, they need at least 10cfm at 90psi minimum to run the smaller air diaphragm pumps.

To add to what Christopher said,..most decent wheel barrow type compressors work fine,...I use an Ingersoll Rand and I think it's rated at 11 CFM @90 PSI. Just check the specs on whatever pump and compressor you use.

I looked on Ebay and did not find any right now, I will look once in a while.

I just got an air compressor that puts out about 13cfm so it should work with the 3/8" all flo pump no problem. I wonder if it would work with the 1/2" air diaphragm pump?

Has anyone tried the next larger size air diaphragm pump to see if it will spray further/higher than the 3/8" pump?

Thanks.

I have a home Depot gas compressor with the 5.5 engine. Would a larger compressor make it shoot farther?
