1978 house wash

Just got a call from a HO looking to have there house washed, BUT it was built in 1978. According to the HO, he painted it in 1999, covering the factory finish. He has never had it lead tested because he has never remodeled. Since it was a factory finish, that is not flaking or pealing according to HO as I have not gone to look at it yet, do I need to worry about the lead issue or not?

As always, thanks for your help.

I would soft wash it and be careful of areas that might have heavy oxidation, if you can clean it carefully and not leave wand marks (if there is a lot of oxidation) then I would do the job.

There are outfits teaching EPA lead cert programs that are trying to scare anyone that has anything to do with home service into signing up. I personally thinks it's BS. If you are washing it's one thing. If you are attempting to blast paint off it's another.

sorry to tell you this guys but if it is lead paint you had better be cert it dosent matter if your washing it if some of it comes off and a EPA guy come by or some one turns you in. its a 37000.00 dollar fine BS or not it may be diffrent in other state witch i dought the class is cheap money

Your just cleaning it....as long as you dont take any paint off you should be ok. I dont agree with the scare tactics either. S..t how many of us grew up in lead based houses, cribs...???
