So in the past month and a half I have gone through 4 or 5 different garden hoses all labeled "commercial" or heavy duty and I was losing my mind with the poor results
This started with getting the Groundworks contractor grade 3/4" 100 ' (tractor supply brand) got it on sale so I was pretty stoked. In under a week the female threat swivel completely broke off the end of the hose (the piece that screws onto the house hose bib). The rest of the hose end was still attached, but if you can't screw it onto a hose bib what good is it. Returned this for a refund and went searching for greener pastures. They asked me if I'd like to exchange it.... It broke it under a week and I am going to be using it daily.... No thanks, ill find something better.
Next I went and got a commercial grade Swan garden hose from home depot. 3/4" 75'. The ends on this were built like a rock so i was optimistic about this purchase. After somewhere between 3-5 days of use i was completely uncoiling the house and noticed a huge tear on the outer layer of the rubber of the hose all the way down to the braiding right near where the hose attached to my Cox reel. I shook my head disgustedly and returned this hose.
Try three i pickup a 3/4" 100" contractor hose by element at home depot. Used this hose for about a week and it did not break during this time which was a celebration for me after my past two experiences , but I learned i spent more time unkinking it then using it and it was extremely hard and heavy so I was going to keep it for now but still look for a better option.
Try 4, I finally bit the bullet and went to factoryhosedirect and ordered the 3/4" 100" mean green hose after grumbling to myself that its price was over 1$ a ft. A week later it came in and I only wish I would have ordered it sooner! This hose is lighter, stronger, easier to manage, and hard to keep kinked even when trying. I have not had an issue with it since i ordered it and loved it so much that I wanted to grab a second length of mean green to keep in my truck incase water access is further then 100' from my truck.
So i went back to factory hose direct and looked at pricing on 150' of mean green...~145$... But it would save me money in the long run i'm sure. I was also looking for a wheeled reel to store this/move it around in my truck bed saw factory hose direct had a nice looking commercial grade wheeled reel for 109... A little more then I was looking to spend on a hose and a reel that will mostly just be used for one off situations , but hey I'll make it work. Thats when the magic happened.
I saw that you can order the reel (a 109$) value and the 150' of mean green to go on it, a (145$ value) for only 137$ TOTAL when you order the reel and add on the hose. Making the 150' of mean green cost only 35$.
If you need any extra feed hose/ a mobil reel for it go to factory hose direct before they change their mind about this!
