Soft Washing versus Pressure Washing

Soft washing is an alternative method to pressure cleaning. Soft washing uses fluid pressures around 65 PSI versus high pressure cleaning of around 3,500 PSI. Pressure cleaning uses the projected force of the water, whether heated or cold, to clean the targeted surface. High pressure is great for cleaning very hard, dense materials that can withstand high impact forces; concrete, hard brick, dense stone, some metals. On the other hand some materials require low or soft pressure application to preserve the integrity of the surface; dryvit, wood, fiberglass, asphalt shingle.
Soft washing relies more on the supportive cleaning detergent or chemical to do the work on the dirty or moldy surface. With low pressure delicate or old materials will not be damaged. Make sure the company you employ has the training and proper equipment to use what is fitting for your needs.
Here is an example of a fiberglass awning in Philadelphia that was not cleaned for 32 years! If high pressure was used on the surface the result would be devastating. With our soft wash methods we brought back the beauty of this exterior fixture. Bethany Associates services New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. We can use high pressure when needed or soft wash methods when appropriate!
