Hello,
I am getting ready to start a pressure washing business but would like to get some experience. I would like to train here in South Texas with pressure washers. If anyone is interested, please email me. Thanks.

hmmm

That kinda worries me .. I dont think anyone from the surronding area will train you in their own territory. That is murder. Dont you think soo, at least I wouldn't do it unless you where from another state.

When Will Get Past This!

The notion that you are training your competition will hurt you doesn't wash, in my opinion. By working together you elevate the standards and professionalism in the area. In turn, this allows you to charge more because you are adding value to the profession as a whole. Electicians and plumbers get together every month and have local meetings in my area and in most area across the country. It is to discuss new standards and ideas. They also network, mentor, learn, and other advantages. Do you not think it wouldn't apply to this industry? As Ron stated, I have helped organize local meetings as well as help out my direct competitors many times. I have never suffered from this practice, I have only flourished. I do not agree with the notion that "helping" your local competitors is detrimental.

Chris, Nothing comes free! Everything has a value attached to it. what I am saying is don't expect someone to let you follow them around and glean all their information for nothing.
A few questions :
What type of P/W do you plan on doing?
Are you willing to pay for that knowledge?
Have you researched your market area?
Do you have a Business Plan?
Have you contacted anyone in your local area?

Narrow you field and come back with some more questions. Read some of the past threads. I have trained people before, let them ride along, but they have payed for the privilege. I'm about 200 miles north. Do you have a Condo on the beach? We could work something out.
Everett, I see your position, and I have done the same but, I have worked with existing contractors. Not some one "wanting to start a business". I have also trained many employees. But most are destine to be Employees not Business Owners. That is not meant to demean anyone, just a statement about peoples risk taking levels. Obviously a business owner has more at risk than a employee.

Enough of this. Chris, get back to us with more info.
