Workers Comp field inspector

I got visited by the states WC compliance bureau inspector while doing roofs last week. First time Ive ever seen one! Said a homeowner called, but was probably a board member. The president of the HOA said that they require WC on all contractors in the neighborhood. She went with a cheaper guy and I was working 4 houses down when he was doing the work. Old rig, no name or anything on truck.
I wanted to call her and tell her Bullsh**, but a day later is when the inspector came out.
there are at least 6 different companies in the neighorhood cleaning roofs. Im sure at least one of them got hit with out an exemption on file or paperwork on their helpers.

I say that because if it is required it is nice that its being regulated.

I have had workers comp for going on 4 years and basically its been a piece of paper and a headache!

I think its crazy you have 6 companies in one neighborhood cleaning roofs. In 4 years I've only ever run into 2 companies. One actually cleaning and one doing an estimate.

As for the WC guy, that's crazy. I guess if youbhave WC then threes nothing to worry about.
