Why doesn't Trump like Ron Paul

Here's why.

Trump is a fiscal conservative. He's not the least bit libertarian and isn't the least bit concerned about personal liberty in this country.

He is, however concerned with making money. An as long as guys like Obama or Romney are running the country the only way to make money will be the current way.

The current way of making money is by lobbying, or paying for the election of, elected officials who will, in turn make laws and regulations that make it difficult or impossible for Trump's competitors to get contracts. Scott Stone can tell you all about that.

I have a filter RFP that requires filters so specific that only one contractor can ever be selected to service the government account. How did this come about? From doing business the current way.

Mr Garagecleanwashdownwithfirehose.net posted a video on another board with an elected official publicly proud of himself for allowing a manufacturer to come in and direct his decisionmaking towards their specific equipment.

This is the way business is done now.

This is why our country is messed up. This is why we NEED Ron Paul.

And this is why Trump hates Ron Paul. Because Paul represents the true intent of the founders of this country.

That intent was

1) Hard work produces results.
2) Everyone pays their own way.
3) The government is small, performs a specific task, then gets out of the way and lets capitalism make the choices in a naturally selective way.

Trump would not be able to survive without the payoffs and crooked politicians. The problem now is Obama is siding with Trump's competitors because obviously Trump didn't grease his palm enough.

That's why he just endorsed Romney.

More of the same and Trump likes it that way.

First good point you've ever made Topny. Well maybe not the first but a good one anyway. But I still think that over all Ron Paul is a wacko. The reason libertarianism never works is that it is unworkable in the political system we have. If Paul were to be elected, he still has to work with a 2 party congress to get things done. He would have some political capital depending on how wide his winning margin was, but it would soon fade as political and monied interests asserted their power again.
The idea of a Ron Paul is really great, the practicality of a Ron Paul presidency isnt possible. I think he may have made some changes in the system while he worked in congress as a Republican, but it has been limited.
I would be more inclined to believe in him if he didnt load bills with pork, veto them knowing they were going to pass anyway, then get up on the pulpit and preach that "I never vote for pork." That puts him smak dab in the middle of a system he purports to be so much against.

It is the apathy and fatness of the American people that prevents changes.

The American people toppled a similar system at the birth of this country.

We can't do anything if we keep voting for the same characters in different masks.

The fact that I don't think Paul could get much of anything he wants through congress is my favorite thing about him. He would cut almost every single "department of..." by simply not appointing anyone and disbanding the current staff. The American people could realize that life goes on without the "department of...", the budget gets that much closer to balanced, and we go about our lives a little freer. Once the executive branch returned to its near symbolic state, people could actually see the difference. There would still be state programs as intended, poor would be cared for, children educated, Hexus would not destroy the environment, and greedy corporations would not rape and pillage just because the "department of..." was no longer being funded. He could pull troops from all corners of the earth, but he can't close the bases (congress does that).
His actual power would be limited as far as long term changes, but he would lead by example. He could also place a few judges on the supreme court that have actually read the constitution. Anything he changes can be "fixed" if needed. But, hopefully people will realize how amazing life could be when we're free...then people will actually elect legislators that want to keep it that way...then we would start, somewhat, fresh!
Just imagine if people realized it's congress that has actually ruined the nation. Then, perhaps payed attention to who they elected...

During his term, could you imagine congress needing 2/3 vote on ANYTHING they wanted to pass? We could count the bills passed into law on two hands...and I couldn't imagine Paul signing a bill that he couldn't personally read...and at his age, it couldn't be very long if you expect him to remember the first page by the time he gets to the last!
