Why did you chose your specialty?

This has been my first year in business (as if you guys couldn't already tell) and lately I've been doing a lot of thinking about a specialty. So far houses and driveways have been it for me, but I was thinking about trucks, equipment, small comm., car lots, etc. I know I don't want to do kitchen hoods, and I'm pretty sure I don't want to get into wood resto. Which brings me to my question-- why is it that you chose your specialty? Because no one else was doing it? You really prefer it? Most $? Just curious.

Well this is a far cry from previous business ventures and it's challenging. :banghead:

I was able to pickup that particular type of work fairly easy and I enjoyed doing it better than other types of washing, it just fit my style well.

I decided to roof clean and flat work because I liked working outside,being my own boss and I already had most of the equipment. Lift, p/w, ladders and so on from a painting business I had before.

We do a wide variety of cleaning but as I start to position my company to be able to sell it soon. I find my self going after either volume contracts or high dollar jobs.

*For me pressure washing is a stepping stone. I don't want to be doing this all my life

I ended up doing what I do, because I fell into a couple of good contracts, and found that, not only are we very good at them, but we like the work. I did try about everything, but this is where I am, for now.
This is a stepping stone for me, too, to a healthy retirement doing what I like to do.
