I am buying a 30" Steel eagle Surface cleaner and wanted to know how you guys likem or what problems you've had withem? thanks guys

I had one when I first started out and it is a great machine but.....Make sure that you have at least 8gpm to push it or you will be walking slower than you do now with a 24" machine. Been there done that and traded in for the 24" surface cleaner and am more happy now.

If you have 2 machines on one trailer you can use some check valves and hydraulic fittings and "T" them together and really kick some butt.

Not trying to start that debate about gpm vs. size of surface cleaner.

Go and try one out before buying one to see if you really like it or not.

Try to find someone that has one and meet up with them and your rig and give it a try.

Good luck.

I second the notion that you need at least 8gpm. You will clean much faster.

Try and get the deublin spinner. You will be more satisfied in the long run.

We have our own 30" cleaners that are the "guts" of the Steele Eagle. Even with the 8.5 GPM I can still clean better and faster with a 24".

I have 2 that I have been using for about 14 years they are great. Even had a guy run one over with a 23000# truck. A little pounding with a hammer and it is still on the job.

It will work with a 5 gpm machine but it is a bit slower than with 8gpm as mentioned above.

we have the Turbo twisters and 1 steel eagle 30 inch.

we have 3 wand attachment running 6 GPM's through it at 0 degrees with 4,000 psi. Deublin swivel.

The turbo's clean twice as good and 1/4 faster.

We are very pleased with the steel Eagle.

I have tried a side by side comparison with Hydro Tek and Steel Eagle on our machine. On our rig, we set the Same settings, Same pumps, with different swivels. Hydro Tek VS Steel Eagle. The Steal Eagle out performed the hydro tek, of which I though the hydro tek was a better design. I believe that the swivels make all the difference in the world. We use nothing but the deublin swivels on ALL of our surface cleaners.

Just a note, I would order the 3 wand for the 6GPM and the 4 wand for the 8 GPM.

If you have less than 4,500 PSI, I believe that you would need to compensate for the lower psi by raising your GPM's. If you have a lower GPM, raise your PSI to at least 4,000.

Another trick is Volume resistance.

If you have a 3/8 hose, you will have three times the resistance as a 1/2 hose. If your hose is 200 ft, well you may have to get a much higher volume pump than a 6 GPM. It seems that everyone like the general 8 GPM at 3,500 psi. when running through a 3/8 inch hose line.

We use a 1/2 inch line at 200 ft with only 50 to 90 psi loss, instead of up to a 300-400 psi loss with a 3/8 inch line. This also makes a difference with the performance with a NON motorized surface cleaner.

So to recap...

PSI needs to be increased for lack of GPM
GPM needs to be increased for lack of PSI

3/8 hose will restrict noticeable flow and pressure past 50 ft. It is harder on your pump with great distance than 150 ft.
1/2 hose is easier on pumps, Better Flow and performance.

Draw back on 1/2 inch.... It's a B**ch to handle, wind. Our 1/2 inch hose cost $3.80 per ft. . Multiplied by 200 ft. on each reel. We have 700 ft on the rig or $2,879.45 with tax.... No delivery charge included. we go through hoses every 4 months more or less. We allocate as much as $9,000 per year, or $725 per month towards hoses.

WOW! you guys have all da ho'es well i run 3/8" hose on my rig. but youre saying if i change the hose between the swivel and the gun to a 1/2" i will get a better performance out of a SC, right?
