Who Accepts Credit Cards?

PayPal, we got rid of our machine.

What a lot of merchants don't realize is the credit card acceptance companies work for the consumer not the vendor/merchant even if it's through your bank. If a customer challenges a charge which they can do within 60 days it's up to the merchant to prove they provided the service or product. Especially if it's taken over the phone with no signature. I've never been stiffed but know some that have.

If the merchant services catches you charging extra for a credit card transaction they can drop you.

Nope.

Have a place that insisted on paying with a card, advised that we don't accept. So he sought the service elsewhere, then calls me couple weeks later asks what to do about soot all over his dining room. Seems the other company shot the wood burning pizza oven with a PW and got soot on everything in the place. Also had to replace a lot of ceiling tiles due to the type 2 stack.

Also had electrical problems for a few days after words.

I now have keys and there is always a check waiting on the register when I walk in.

We started with a machine years ago when we had 15-20 dry clean customers. We billed them all monthly and just kept a signed sheet on file.

Once we got over 100 customers it became time consuming so I wrote a comma delimited file I could download from quickbooks with all the charges and customer info that I could run in a batch in minutes. All I had to do was do a search for all the outdated info and put in new expiration dates. That took about 30 minutes a month. But even that got time consuming when we got 1000 customers.

Now we use quickbooks online for bookkeeping AND credit card processing for all three companies and we STILL bill automatically each month except we don't have to search through lines of info looking for outdated cards, it just spits the bad ones out and we call them for updated info.

Quickbooks online is great. It's about $25.00 per mont plus the same fees you pay for other credit card processors.

Good logo Lou, nice and easy to read.

I do the PayPal thing also, no monthly fee and a 2.9% fee on transactions.

When I start doing a lot more credit cards monthly then I will do the merchant account thing or Quickbooks like Tony does.

Quickbooks merchant services and PayPal. I do not accept credit cards for any residential customers (which account for less than 15% of my customer base.

I have 2 very large PM companies that pay me within 48 hours of invoice via corporate credit card. Well worth the small fee involved.

I had to add credit cards three months ago (visa, master card & discover) when I won the county school cleaning contract for a year. That's the only way the county will pay you. To make things worse, the county uses reward cards which is an unqualified rate. This means that 4.19% is taken off the top instead of the typical 2.24% (along with a $10.50 per month service fee). OUCH!!!

we accept them, visa, mastercard, discover and am express.

Our are done thru our bank and money is direct deposited and I can accept the in office or in the field. I love the option!

+1.......On that one Russ, just easier to use my bank. Like you said Direct into your account. I think we pay 2% per.

I looked into the electronic card reader, but man those things cost plenty. I'd rather just call the 800# pop in the card number and be done with it.

Another little something I learned from an RT!!!
