Customer just called and was concerned about white streaks under his windows. The house was just painted two years ago. I am thinking it is oxidation running down. It is on each end of the window frames running down. Anyone come across this? and does it come off?
It's not on the window. It is under the window, coming from the edges on each side. White streaks on the house paint. Guy wants house washed and wants to make sure I can get it off. Windows are painted aluminum. I think it must be oxidation running off the frames onto the siding.
If the windows have aluminum around them then it's oxidation. The power coat is the white streaks. I would be very careful when doing a house wash around anything aluminum. If your wash mix is to strong if can strip the coating right off. I would also suggest you carry white paint with you just in case you need to touch up any spots.
It's definitely oxidation. If it's old painted aluminum then you could end up with bare metal in spots. I'd make sure the customer is aware of this and that they won't hold you responsible.
Oil base chalking has a habit of running down onto the siding from the window frames. I have seen it many time over the last 40 years of doing home improvements.
The guy said it was painted two years ago. Don't know why they would leave old oxidized window frames. I'm not going to touch the windows, if it is oxidation. Does the oxidation stains come off the house paint easily? Is this an acid based cleaner?
