when are we going to get certifacation or licenses that means something.

I am not looking to start fight here but I need ask this when is pressure washer, roof cleaner and window cleaners going to a license or certifacation that make our trade look more legit. I lost count to the number forums that have form of certifing you in the business and the certifacation does not mean thing to the public. We need to stop think of what certifacations and licenses we need to look more professional like our friends electricians, HVAC and plumbers

Those trades require a license because of the safety and health issues that could happen as a result of their work.

We should not need a license

Are you saying that we do not have any hazardous thing that we use every day in our trade. Lets count some of the thing hot temp water, acids and lifts are few things. Tony let me ask why do HVAC need to be license

So they can be taxed and to make it difficult to start a new business.

HVAC is ranked right there with car salesmen and congress as far as trust and professionalism goes. You have to be licensed to sell cars here but it doesn't raise the perception of professionalism one bit.

Chris you are asking to be enslaved by the government. Amazing.

Big difference, the key being "hazardous thing that we use every day". A lawn mower is hazardous, so is a chain saw. Those other trades you mentioned do things that could cause safety and health issues for the occupants "after" the service. There is very little I can do at a residence to cause lasting concerns to the occupants of a home.

A license issued by the government has nothing to do with a professional image, it only generates tax revenue and opens a giant pandora's box of regulation.

Certification IMHO is the kissing cousin to a license, where you simply replace the government with some other entity and pushed further than voluntary, it opens the same pandora's box.

You can't regulate professionalism.

If you are losing jobs to startups and lowballers, there is probably a marketing issue......not a regulation/certification.

A certificate you can show a customer does not mean you will get the job, not in a million or billion or trillion years.

It is about professionalism, selling skills, marketing, good equipment for the job, etc.... not a piece of paper.

There are certified hacks out there in every industry, worst is HVAC. I know guys that make a living on just fixing what other HVAC companies' damage because even though the guy has a certificate and license, does not mean he was properly trained on the job for certain situations. There are bad electricians (have license and certificates), bad plumbers (have license and certificate), bad doctors (many years of college, medical school, license and certificates) but sometimes people get hurt, wrong operation or die from them.

If your customer is picking someone else, you need to find out why, is it price only, is it professionalism, is it selling skills, is it because they were referred highly? Sometimes they will tell you, sometimes they don't want to tell you why and blame it on the spouse.

Our certification program is 10 hours of online classes, 180 questions of tests and 1.5 days of in field training. I think we are getting close to having something substantial.

Are they per person or is the company certified?
How much per cert?
How long do they last? Forever?

Ohio,

They are for the individual.
The Assistant Tech is $199.00 and the Lead Tech is $299.00
They are indefinite as long as the professional remains active in the industry and continues to earn educational credits through online webinars or at regional events.
