What's your opinion on.......

Bleach vs. peroxidicarbonates on wood.....

Chems (2 step) vs. bleach on wood....

PSI vs. tip size?

Truck (pick-up) vs. van mounted equipment?

x-jet vs. soap nozzle?

Well, what are you waiting for.... let's have some fun with this!

What I think, I will take that truck vs van and add one better, a flat bed truck, either long cab or cab over.

That will be what I get next and not a light duty one, I would go for 15,000 GVW and then keep my trailer.

Cannot really see a pick-up as being smart with all the gear any one of us carries.

Now you really want to go smart, HEY SCOTT STONE, show a picture of your Monster Truck:)

Jon

PS: Dave Olson, let Scott have his day here ok!

I'll second that one. My flat bed has done everything I have needed it to do and left me room to spare. I wanted to avoid the trailer at all costs if I had the choice. Had a trailer when I started, and hated it. Couldn't do 65 on the freeway and couldn't take the carpool lane :) With the flatbed truck I could do both!!

If you have employees, a self contained vehicle is the way to go..............if its you driving to every jobsite, I'd recommend a trailer...............gives you more versatility.

I used to use alot of bleach, and now lean towards the percarbonates.........unless extreme mold is present. And I always brighten........no matter what the manufacturer of the cleaner says.

In my opinion, the xjet rules.

I suppose the best setup would be a flatbed truck (F-450) with a trailer for your recovery equipment. Still undecided on that one.

If you made me choose between my wife or my x-jet.............................I'm really gonna miss that woman!!!

Okay, here is the two ton. I prefer it for employees. Top speed is 65 MPH, because it has a speed regualtor and is powered by a little 350 Chevy. It also has an Allison Automatic in it and air.

The machines were an Rk21 and a Landa Cold Water unit. Notice I said were. The Landa got stolen off of the truck a couple of weeks ago, and is on a replacement schedule now.

There is no vacum recovery equipment on this truck. It is all mechanical, i.e. Pumps and dams.

Scott

Beth, some very interesting questions, I think that we are not going to find a right or wrong on these, maybe you knew that.

The bleach thing is out of my realm.

Two steps on anything I have noticed is usually better. Sometimes can be more work if done properly. I realize some think two step save you time.

Psi versus tip size, I would imagine in the deck business power wouldn’t be and issue and water volume might mean more. Larger tip and less pressure. That’s a guess!!

Truck mounted rigs are great, although when the truck breaks your out of work. Trailers are nice.

Never used and X-jet…

2 step,tackle box of tips,truck w/enclosed trailer
everyone resid. should own an X-jet!

Bleach vs. peroxidicarbonates on wood

I dont use Bleach on wood I have heard that it destroys the wood over time. I dont know if its true or not but I'm not taking chances. :)

Chems (2 step) vs. bleach on wood....

Two Step all the way :)

PSI vs. tip size?

Tip Size Not pressure. Its all about volume. :)

Truck (pick-up) vs. van mounted equipment

Ive gone to an Enclosed trailer this year so trailer for me.

x-jet vs. soap nozzle?

Ive never used an xjet so I would say soap nozzle but I would like to try an X jet.

1-Bleach vs. peroxidicarbonate on wood
I use both along with the two step

2-psi vs. tip size
both again along with heat/cold.(Popping up gum give me heat with the psi)

3-Truck(pickup) vs van mounted equipment.
I have an enclosed trailer with a hot water PW mounted inside and also a van with 2 cold water PW's mounted inside of it. They both serve there purposes well.

4- x-jet vs. soap nozzles.
Both again

Here's another one COMMERCIAL vs RESIDENTIAL??
I like both(I'm easy)

The one answer that I could take over another would be easy between POWERWASHING or STAINING??
POWERWASHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :)

Beth, These are easy questions to answer.
1- Bleach will break down the fibers in wood
2- A sodium hydroxide based cleaner with oxcylic acid to netrualize and brighten the wood.
3- the tip size, less pressure for wood.
4- The x-jet with a close range nozzle for working on decks, without close range nozzle for houses and roofs.
5- and of corse an enclosed trailer, less temptation for theives and not limited on the speed with a REAL TRUCK. I hardly notice it is behind me.
