What's next?

Ok, I've had my son Chris on here reading and I've taught him a little of what I've learned. I've been letting him do a few sidewalks here and there to get the hang of the surface cleaner.

Today, a friend of ours let him clean the pad in front of the dumpster just for his learning.

He used no chemicals, just heat (about 180 at the tip). He used the Landa Water Jet surface cleaner plus the wand. A whole bunch of that stuff didn't come up. What would be your advice for dumpsters like this? What chemicals, etc?

Once he gets the hang of it he's going to try the 25.00 dumpster circuit like Ron to get his feet wet.

Don't give him any crap please, this is his first dumpster and he knows he's supposed to clean the entire dumpster area, but we only asked if we could clean the pad for practice.

I dont do flatwork, but I think caustic is going to be the key (just from reading for the last couple years).

I am sure a good hot caustic mix would do the trick. Thats at least what I use when doing them. I also will put it down straight (pump-up, delevan) on the really heavy spots to encourage a better dwell. If its oil the caustic seems to run-off of the spot if not applied liberally

If you're going to be applying caustic, make sure he starts wearing rubber boots to help protect his feet.

Good Degreasers, Hot water but take care of that asphalt so it does not get damaged.

Get some wand extensions like 1', 1.5', 2', 2.5' and 3' so you are not hunched over to clean. Makes a huge difference!

You can order them just about anywhere. Since you will be adding them to the end of that gun/wand, you don't need to buy the insulated kind. Get the aluminum or stainless, both will work great.

When you have them, put a coupler in one end and a plug on the other so you add that to the gun/wand you have and a nozzle at the other end or if needed, another short wand for up high cleaning.

Talk to you soon!

The glamorous side of powerwashing!

When you get your soap, mix it up and put it on straight. It should totally dissolve everything in sight without needing to scrub or use heat. If not, make the soap stronger - yes CHUNKY areas need a hot scrub - and no dumpster will ever phase you, just let the soap do the work.

There is a way to spray into a corner and not wear any slop, it's 2 parts technique and one part wishful thinking, Chris will be glad when he perfects it.

Yeah great tip, issue all employees and customer a pair also. Keep that little girl out of the dried up powder in the parking lot when it rains. you know how kids like puddles.
