Recent developments have put some activist groups on high alert and some lawsuits are expected in the near future. While the suits will have no merit and will likely result in limited change the activists are currently stirring up concerns in various parts of the country.

In Texas the law requiring anyone who is entering opinions on a blog to register with their local jurisdiction as a member of the press is is being challenged as overly restrictive. The bloggers are claiming that they are only passive members of the press since their blogs are part time in nature they should not have to register. Further, the clause requiring forums to turn over their lists of members for investigations regarding hate speech has some up in arms. A compromise is coming in that the fees will be reduced to $20 per year and only those who have been accused of posting controversial, racist or otherwise distasteful comments would have their rights to post removed for life in addition to any other sentences they may incur. This seems to satisfy the remainder of the bloggers and is expected to sail through and restore order.

Further east in Florida the religious right retirees are on the warpath in light of the latest law requiring each worship service attendee to send in a long form explaining their religious views to ensure compliance with the non-profit status of the the church of their choice. Joe Anushead, the prosecutor for the city of Tampa says "Apparently these people have an anti-government agenda to hide. If you've done nothing wrong then why in the world wouldn't you want to try to help your own church keep it's tax exempt status?" We tend to agree and will be reporting later on the results of this showdown.

And in the far west reaches of our nation, in Oklahoma, there is a growing concern over the house to house searches the TSA has been conducting over the past 5 months. While welcomed by the vast majority of the state's residents there are a select few who have objected to the searches for pornography that hav been going on recently by the TSA. Studies led by a university team in Massachusetts last year showed that viewers of pornography in the midwest are less likely to "see something OR say something" if they see something suspicious. This constitutes a direct violation of the TSA's command to do so. Movever they are more likely to own more than the maxiumum number of adult toys allowed in the neighboring state of Texas http://digg.com/news/story/It_s_a_Felony_to_Possess_More_Than_5_Dildos_in_Texas and will likely lead to felony arrests for distibution. Officer Impotencia of Tulsa noted that this us just another way to get violators off the streets and their citizens as a whole welcome this "minor" inconvenience. "Why should they care if they have nothing to hide" he adds.

We will keep you up to date on the status of these frivolous claims made by the dregs of society. Without a strong government we, as people a people are left defenseless. Our staff is in full support of the law enforcement community as required by our state blogging license.

We remind you to get out and vote so we can continue to feel safe and secure in these times of national stress. Your government is counting on you to be the eyes and ears to point them in the direction of anyone threatening your right to sleep safe at night, unarmed, and under the full protection of the government as outlined in your constitution.

I dare the TSA to come and search my house. And I think Islam is a violent religion promoting terrorism. Let that be on the record so you know what happened when they come shut my internet off.

It's hard to tell if the story is serious or not...
It reminds me a little of the movie V for Vendetta. The movie is trying as hard as it can to suggest a hardline political view to an extreme that every viewer would see it as oppressive. This letter sounds like a news release that would be read in the movie. Ironically, the left leaning film industry made certain to repetitively insist that the oppressive government could only be "conservative" and their examples may be accurate in the UK. But being made for an American audience, I'm pretty sure it was a subtle(ish) attack on the Repub party. They probably should have proofread the script though, the govt depicted practically shared our current potus campaign platform issue by issue!

Good call Kyle. I wrote this story myself to illustrate just how far we've come as a nation just like the frog in the hot water scenario.

Everything being done in the essay is a direct assault on our constitutional rights.

And, by the way, ALL the assaults mentioned were derived directly from laws and procedures that are already in force regarding our second amendment right. Everything mentioned is already being done against our citizens who choose to exercise that right. Yet no one seems to care too much until we substitute a different right and show how ridiculous it is.
