What surface cleaner do you recomend?

What surface cleaner would you recomend for a 4.6 gpm hot water skid? Also what degree tip is best? I have an old beat up one I bought with some used equipment a while back. It's got the yellow plastic shroud and blue aluminum handles. Works but seems to spin slow. Anyone know what brand these are?

The waterjet, Its pricey but its a damn good surface cleaner.

I think that the blue handle/yellow dome is a whirl-a-way.

Tony gave you some good advice, the pulley will give you some more gpm's and that will make a good difference in cleaning.

Try some new 15 or 25 degree nozzles and see if it spins faster, if not then you might need the swivel rebuilt. Lots of the vendors that offer advice will rebuild the swivel for you if you can't.

I have heard a lot of great things about the waterjet.

Tony, I'm assuming you mean to put a smaller pulley on the pump. My concerns are if the engine still had enough power to turn the same rpm, would this cause damage to the pump. Also if the engine did not have enough power to turn the same rmp I would think that I would end up pushing less gpm overall due to the engine rpm not being in the optimal powercurve. It is a 16 hp Vangaurd with 4.6 gpm cat pump.

Hey Russ, never talked to you before but I feel like I know you well after poking around on here for a while. Not that concerned about price as long as its benificial to spend more in the long run. If one is a couple hundred more but will last longer or is less expensive to fix I would go with the more expenssive one. Which ones have worked well for you?

I do have a whirl away. 20 inch model but that means only a 16 inch spray bar. Looks very similar to the classic. Is that how they all are advertised, by the width of the shroud rather than the spray bar? Actuall my shroud in only 19 inches. I guess they round up.

You can't put a 20" bar under a 20" cover. The fan pattern of the nozzle has to have room to spread.

Chris is right- you have a Whirlaway. Big difference between a Whisper Wash Classic and a Whirlaway. I've had both. With your machine you would be able to fly with the Classic. It has a much better swivel.
If a Waterjet is in your budget then you need to look at it.

Classic by wisper wash is what I recomend and no widder than a 20" You dont have the GPM to push anything bigger.

yep, when bean-coubnters instead of engineers run a business,
you have "embellishment of the truth"

About dimensional differences..
you'all frequently fuss about not being able to get "close enough" to the wall
when you're using s SurfaceCleaner..

that WhirlAway with 16" bar under a 20" deck makes only a 17-17.5" path.
that's 1.5" from the wall.

The Mosmatic 21 has a 18.5" spray bar, for a 19.5 to 20" path..
that's only 1" from the wall.

Anyone want to add comparative numbers ??.. it will help us all !
"Opinion" doesn't help NEARly as much as comparative examples..
it would be nice if we had more feed-back on which swivels are easy to rebuild (pricing included).

I push the Mosmatics 'cause they can be rebuilt on your tailgate in 15 minutes,
with a $59. kit :)
..NObody likes downtime.

Mosmatic makes an excellent surface cleaner and whisper wash are also a great value for the dollar. Either one should serve you well. With that particular gpm unit I would stay closer to the 20" range for the best results and speed.

Maybe some of the guys should have a contest to see who can rebuild the swivel the fastest, that would be cool!

Mosmatic vs. Whisper Wash Let's Get Ready To Rumble............................... hahahahahahaha

The $59 kit does sound like a good deal but the whisper wash cartridge is also a great idea.

Surface Cleaners.. How much did you spend on a rebuild ??

pitch in guys !! .. how fast, and how much did you spend on a rebuild ??
I'm curious, and we ALL need to know anyway..
..So, spit-out some details..
TonyR asks a reasonable question,
..Let's make this in INFORMational thread. Eh?
