What size compressor for foam?

Ok so I assume that all you foamers have dialed this in by now. What are the specs for the compressor to power the mean foamer 5? I read little pancake compressors, I read 15 gallon, I read foot pump, I read cigarette lighter compressor.....What CFM @ PSI is required to get GOOD foam consitently?

What does the the Foamadelic greasapotomus use in Burbank? Do you wheel the compressor in or do you run Airline from your truck/trailer? Do you run gas motor or 'lectric plug in jobers?

Joe,

Based on "THE LAST FOAMER POST" from the Master of Foam,
The Foamer 5 requires at least a 6 cfm @ 40 psi, I suggest from personal experience 6 cfm @ 90 psi.

Hope that helps

The 6 CGM @ 40 PSI will work but I found the foamer runs better with 50-60 PSI to hlep this happen a larger tank is a easy way to get the volume you need. I have a Campbell Hausfield that has a 5 gal tank it does just fine but the compressor works to keep air in it.

I like the larger cfm compressors because you have more than you need. If you notice any GOOD pressure washer manufacturer will put a larger pump and engine on a machine then throttle them back so they are not working at capacity. I have a 5 gpm 3000psi Hydrotek that we have had for over 10 years that was built like this and she is the best machine in our fleet and gets at least 10-20 hrs per week. Spend an extra hundred bucks and get the larger compressor and the larger tank. As you are lugging that beast in to the first job you will say "Fukcin' Matt Bryan cokcsucker, motherfukcer making me lug this huge motherfukcer around" After you get it all set up and it spews more foam than a 13 year old Jewish boy at a Barmitzva, you will change your tune. A couple of years later when it it is still running like a champ, you will send me a box of Cuban Cigars and ask me to be Godfather to your children.

I said it was the last foamer post before but I am relapsing, this thread is like dangling a Vodka Tonic in front of an alcoholic in the middle of July.

Be careful Matt, Russ seems to like that mud riding a little too much if I know what I mean.

Oh Hey Russ my secretary said that two guys called for you from different nightclubs...oh here they are Message 1-Jerry from The Man Hole called for Russ says you left your short wand. (I hope you were just cleaning over there buddy.)

Message 2- Roger down at The Tool Shack, something about you took the wrong tool belt home again.-I don't know Russ seems like this work release program is giving you a little too much free time.

Matt can the compressor be left on the truck or trailer and then run airline to feed the foamer? I don't see why this wouldn't work....Gas or electric? Hmm Gas, then if I hate grease I can run around and be a mobile tire repair dude.

Absolutely, we carry at least 200' of hose just for this. Our are electic, I think the gas ones might make too much noise at night.
