They have NO idea Ken just how tough it is to survive down here :(
Had a great week last week, and already have two grand sold going into Monday.

ALL repeats too, ads are not working, hate to pay that freaking bill every month.

Almost thinking about downsizing, eliminating all ads altogether, do it myself with a helper ....
Cherry Pick jobs I want to personally do, farm out the rest :)

Once you build a name, it is all downhill.

The TRICK is to SURVIVE for 5 to 7 years UNTIL that happens :eek:

I started 15 plus years ago, with a Nissan Maxima pulling a 4 by 8 trailer.
Lived in a weekly rented room for 2 plus years, worked day and night too.

Some weeks, I got food at food banks, and faced eviction.

It was not easy!

Non Pressure Roof Cleaning was almost unheard of back when I started.

Myself, Mallard, Spray Away, Crown, Apex, Allbrite, and Roof Butler pretty much created the market here in Tampa.
If I missed anyone, no disrespect intended!

It was tuff going, it really was.

It is STILL tough to make it here, and I wonder IF even I could make it today.

Everyone, and I mean Everyone and his brother is trying to get into the local market.

The competition for NEW shoppers is fierce.

I declined a 3500 sq ft roof WITH a 3 car garage up in Cheval.

3500 sq ft barrel tile with 900 sq ft garage is 4400 sq ft.

It WAS done for 400 dollars by a pressure washer :eek:

THAT is the level of desperation here in Tampa at the present time.

Fortunately, most of my business is repeat customers my wanna be competitors never see.

These happy customers seldom shop because we did them right in the past.
Many of them are very high end homes, where a good job is far more important then the lowest, rock bottom price.

Because I do have ads, I also get these shoppers from time to time.
Thank GOD I do not have to rely upon them completely to survive anymore :)

Your post Ken is a good example of just HOW desperate it is here in Tampa.

People do not believe us I think ?
 
I have had three calls in the last week for res. from $300 in postcard ads. each of them I showed up with my big rig a 7X16 with 2 hotwater skids and a 525 gallon tank not small by any means. These people knew when they seen my rig I meant business they each said that. however after my quote they said the already had a lower price than mine. My prices where lower than I normaly do this type of work for. I think people are so broke right now they dont care if someone is ligit or insured.

The cost of living here in Florida was hidden for a long time by all the money being made in Real Estate.
Now that the boom is over, people are not spending freely anymore.
People were spending like no tomorow, secure in knowing their home was appreciating in value.
NOW, houses have droppped in value, insurance is astronomical, and everything else is going up.
The job market is not secure, hurricanes are a threat, real or imagined, and adjustable rate mortages and balloon paments are coming due.
Bottom Line ?
Recession here in Florida :(

Better hang On TIGHT, THIS should be the season :eek:

Remember, ya gotta make enough now to get through the Summer :)

here its the opposite you have to make enough in summer to get through winter.

I may be wrong but I think he was saying you better make enough now to get through next summer because there may be a recession where nobody will be paying for these services and you will need enough money to survive it.
