What Is it???

Ron, Looks like a rather large generator to me. This guy must be serious about his TV sports!

I'd have to agree - it's most likely an engine generator. CAT makes them too, but theirs are bright yellow (can't miss them).
Personally I would have gone solar.
Maybe he's selling it back to the local utility co. Probably makes good money at the rates the co. charges.
Does he have an underground tank full of fuel? and
Does he have a bunker entrance also? Or is that too well camouflaged to tell?

I wonder what the torque curve is on that bad boy!

Regards,

Hello Ron,

Our Genset also is an Olypian marketed by Cat. Ours was made by Generac in Waukesha, Wisconsin for Cat.

These are some pictures that I took a couple years ago when we changed out our main water tank. (The Genset sits on the tank).

Kind of hard to tell from this picture but the Genset is almost as long as our truck is wide (7 feet & change). GM 350 engine runs on Lp.

Hello Mike,

Here is a closer picture of our new water tank.

It is made out of stainless steel. It was custom made. I told them how I wanted it and they built it! Had a local sheetmetal shop do the job for us.

With our old tank we had wasted space in front of the genset. Used it for storage but hard to get to. I also wanted to get more floor space. I reduced the footprint on the floor by one foot. I added it back to the tank by having it extend up to the roof and raised the lower level a few inches.

The tank is cross baffeled, a 3 inch dump line on the left side, an access hatch, 2 inch line on the right side to supply our pumps. We have an 8 inch hatch on the top for bulk filling. Also have site tubes in both the upper and lower levels so we know how much water we have. The tank weights about 2000 pounds.

Our genset sits nicely on the lower part of the tank.

I couldn't find a picture of our genset sitting on the ground. This photo is a little better than the other one.

The crane was lifting it out of our truck in this picture.

Hi Ron,

Yes we started this project in late October 2000. Since you miss the fall colors, you should take a drive up north! The weater channel has info on areas that really shine! :)

Hello Mike,

When you get your box truck consider using poly tanks. This picture shows the back of our White truck. I managed to get 2-500 gallon tanks that just fit between the walls of the box. We tied them together so they function as one tank. By having 2 tanks it helps to provide some baffeling. You will need a chassis with a heavy front axle to carry the load. This truck when loaded has a little over 10,000 pounds on the front axle.
