This is a poll, to see how close I am in paying my guys. I want to be competitive, or better. So, what do you pay? If it is above the top wages listed, please post in the thread.

Hello Scott,

We also pay about 75% of Health Insurance for guys that have worked with us awhile and guarantee them 30 to 40 hours per week. Most new hires only last a few weeks!

Also pay for meals, snacks (pop, etc.) and travel time. We also provide gloves, boots, rain suits, safety glasses, etc.

That is similar to what I do. If they are full time and with me for 6 months, I give them $150 a month on their check for health insurance. Most of my guys have a spouse that works, so they are their health insurance, but we pay our employees portion, and probably a little bit more.
I also hav ethe same problem with new hires, they typically last three weeks, one year or forever. Depends on their mind set.

We supply the safety gear and winter coats.
50% health insurance (includes eye and dental)
5 paid holidays
full and part time work
commissions on picked up work
take home company vehicle (stupid HOA's)
Year round work
christmas bonuses
small prize for most sales for the month.

There are probably a few other things but that's all I can think of now.

We try out guys for 30 days, but I usually online end up keeping 1 out of 6 that apply. Most of my employees have been with us for 3 years.

LOL RJ,

With the cost of living around here you have to be willing to pay well and take care of your guys, all year. Not just during the power washing season. The advantage is the pricing around here is higher than other areas. Trust me, it all works out pretty evenly when you consider all the details.
Plus with all the benefits we offer, I get to write it all of my taxes!

Henry,
Have you run into problems with the take home vehicles? I used to let oneof my guys take his vehicle home until I found out that he had not had the oil changed in 10,000 miles, and I had to put a transmission in at 35,000 miles, and 45,000 miles. Needless to say, I don't do take home vehicles any more. What kind of safe guards do you use?

Scott

Hey Scott,

We track the milage in the office so I know when the vans are due for maintenance. I use mobile/exxon fleet cards for gas and the guys are requird to put in a personal pin code, van # and the milage when they get gas. So when a van is due for an oil change I just hand them one of the card for jiffy lube and they swing by after work and get the oil change, off the clock.
It's not too hard to keep track of I've only got three vans. Now some of the guys on here with 10-15 trucks must have some similiar kind of plan or they would go crazy keeping track of them all...lol

Training cost too much money - Pay your experience technitions well.

In my area there are very few, and definitely very few that I can use. Everyone that I get has to be fully retrained.
