If one were to go into a restaurant, how would you be able to tell if one of you wonderful grease miners has been there? We live across the street from a Chinese restaurant. In the six years in this house, I've NEVER seen anyone there cleaning the hood (don't even have someone qualified in the YP here). Is there something that is publically visible to indicate that I'm not eating decaying rat juices or something? (Although after looking at some of your pictures, I swear I've not eaten there since!)

Hood sticker would show who cleans it and when. That doesn't say anything about what's around the hood though. Like under the wok stove or living in the back wall. Oriental restaurants like to have their hoods cleaned about once every 6 years, so I'd say you should see someone there cleaning it pretty soon. :eek:

Alot of the stuff I see and or have pictures of I would not post here,Its pretty gross.

I dont want everyone who reads these boards to get the idea that all chinese restaurants are neglected. They are not.
Notice you never see any of the major chains talked about on here in a derogatory manner. Wouldnt pay to bite the hand that feeds you.
 
Oh I am sure that there are many restaurants that are well taken care of ..... it's just the one across the street from me has changed hands at least 3 times since we've lived here and as many chicken wings (don't know what is chinese about chicken wings) are fried there, I can only imagine that their flues are probably nearly greased shut! Creeps me out, so like I said, we go elsewhere. As far as what types are more neglected than others, I'm sure that has 2000% more to do with the owner/operator than the type of food served. But chinese restaurants don't really wait six years do they????

Hey I Cleaned China Wok Last Year ... They won't let me clean it again because the owner said that the chemical I used made all of the roaches come out of the wall.
Go Figure..
I remember well , I hit the galvanized metal backsplash under the hood and millions of flying roaches tried to attack me....

There are a few around here that are all but impossible to schedule and clean.
Some of them I wont deal with anymore,Way to much hastle.
There always trying to chew you down.So start high and get what you want in the end.
If they agree to the higher number? Then good for you. You will definetly earn your money in chinese cleanings.

I know you guys out in Cali get this nonsesnse. Me no speak engwish if you want my money but if I can get yours I understand just fine.LOL
 
Those guys in California speak multiple languages. I think its the law out there.

That restaurant will probably not have the hoods cleaned until they absolutely have to......or until their insurance company demands proof of cleaning.

The small mom and pop places are the ones to avoid eating at - jut my opinion.

Josh is right we do have speak multiple languages out here....I speak in $1000 dollar bills mostly :D .

This is a copy paste of a post I made a couple years ago. I posted several pictures that I took from the outside of the building.

If you go over to the restaurant you may be able to see the exhaust fan on the roof or the side of the building. Remember the pictures that I took were taken just a couple weeks after a cleaning contractor had been there!
