Okay guys, I know the big reel that we have for sale is a bit on the spendy side for a lot of folks, particularly the guys just starting out. So I have been working with the engineers at Hannay to come up with a less expensive version and I think you guys are gonna be happy. This reel is designed with the roof cleaner in mind and has an exclusive manifoldness setup with no metal in the fluid path. If you clean roofs then you know just how destructive high percentage SH is to your gear and that particularly includes the Reel manifold. After 6 months of searching, I came up with a reel design which is absolutely immune to roof cleaning chemicals and offered it up for sale. The reels I posted before are beasts. They are expensive but absolutely worth the money and still the way to go if you do high volume business. But I knew that there should be a way to get the reel into more guy's hands for the guys just starting out and the guys who are tight. I worked with Hannay to come up with a more cost effective design and the result is the new 100 series. Now there really is no excuse for anybody to NOT have a reel. No more kinked hoses, no more space eaten up on your rig, no more *#)@!@!ing leaking manifolds! Two versions are available...

The 100M is a manifoldness design with a super thick powder coat finish. $489
The 100MSS is the same manifoldness reel in full stainless steel. $859.

The 100 series reels have the same CPVC Super swivel as our monster 200, 300 and 400 reels and though less expensive, this is still a Hannay Reel and is still build to Hannay Standards to last and last. These are manual rewind designs and will hold 275' of 5/8" hose hose. 5/8" is the preferred hose size for roof cleaning with all electric and up to 3/4" AODD pumps. 1/2" hose will also fit if you adapt down on the swivel. If you need a bigger reel with more capacity, chances are you will need electric rewind as manually rewinding more than about 300' of 5/8' is tough and I recommend you step up to our bigger Electric series reels since electric rewind puts more stress on the reel and the heavier construction comes into play. Plus the cost difference would be negligible, so get the bigger one!

On the powder coating...the key is maintenance. Clean the reel like you clean your truck regularly. Don't let roof mix sit on there and cook, and touch up any chips spots fast. I like Plasti-dip clear to coat the reels in once you get them and have also used Plasti-Dip colored spray on an air reel on our rig that started to show some rust sign. I hit it with steel wool, brushed on the Plastidip, and no more problems. Stainless is obviously less prone, but still needs to be cleaned...yeah, SH is that pervasive. And while you still need to look after the exterior of the reel, the beauty of this design is the fact that there is no manifold to worry about on the inside. No more flash of red rust out of your manifold as one more day goes by where you pray it won't finally leak. No more broken fluid manifolds. Just rebuild the swivel every season or two (yes, they can be rebuilt easily) and you are good for years and years.

Pressure Washing and Hose Reels Too!

We also now offer Pressure washing reels and for the money, it is hard to justify NOT buying a Hannay Reel!

PWR100. Holds 300' of 3/8" hose. Rated for 4K PSI and 400 degrees. Thick, heavy baked enamel finish. $305 plus shipping. Steel plumbing with a 1/2" steel super swivel.

PWR100SS. Same as above in full stainless steel. $438

These are not manifoldness designs like the roof reels above. If you need a manifoldness PW reel because you want to inject SH at the rig and run it thru the reel, contact me.

HR100 Hose Reel. Holds 200' of 5/8" hose. Steel Superswivel. $268 plus shipping. Bigger is available and smaller is...well, why?

Optional Hose guide for any of the above reels adds $120

Colors:

All Reels are available in Red, White, Green, and Grey. Also available Unfinished if you want to get all froo froo and match it to your vehicle, You can also paint your reel with something like POR15 that you can dip in acid and it won't care.

Call 360-831-9494 to order. Orders are manufactured to order at Hannay here in the United States and shipped directly to your door.

So a reel with a manifold(more metal) costs less than a manifold less reel?

Nope. This reel costs less. You can choose to buy a new reel every 2-3 years when the manifold rots out, leaks and takes your rig down.

Or you can buy a reel actually designed to last years and years in a high corrosive fluid application which keeps working.

The second option is cheaper.

Or you can just buy a titan reel and have a spare manifold on hand replace that every 2-3 years. For just around the same money if not cheaper.

Are you an owner of hanney reels? Why do we have to go thru you why can't we just go thru hanney?

Why can someone make a manifold out of PVC for the roof pumps? Looks like I will have to look into making these. With the prices of those reels I imagine these are electric right?

Or...you can spend around the same amount of money and not have to worry about a leaking manifold and rust in the lines that accompanies it. Plus you get a Hannay Reel. Do some searching on the forum for other guys running Hannay reels and their impressions.

As for am I an owner of Hannay? LOL! I WISH!
Why buy thru me? I don't believe Hannay, like most MFGs, sells directly to end users. I am justanother roof cleaning company owner who was frustrated by the designs out there and put the leg work in to bring a reel to other people in the industry that solves one of the biggest glaring issues that people who clean roofs have, manifold problems. It is up to you to decide whether that has value or not.

I actually thought of this and researched it in my 6 month reel problem research journey. There are two problems. First, PVC is not stable in UV Light. Your manifold would literally crumble after a year. Coating PVC is difficult since few coatings stick to it permanently. The second and bigger issue is strength. Most reels use the manifold pipe as the axle and as a structural member and PVC just isn't strong enough. Steel is. Now add weight to the axle...a lot of weight. Ever try to pick up several hundred feet of 5/8" hose with fluid in it? That is a lot of weight! Now put that reel it in a dynamic environment where it is being vibrated and bounced around and subjected to extremes of temperatures. Long story short, PVC won't work, it would shatter. PVC is great for chemical resistance but has inherent structural weakness under sheer force stresses. A truck mounted reel requires a material which is far stronger structurally.

I researched nearly every way possible to make a resistant manifold. From lined pipe, to interior coatings, up to Titanium. I researched making manifolds out of alternative materials such as Hastelloy or Titanium. In every case, there were either technical reasons why it couldn't be done on manifolds of that size and length, ,or it was too cost prohibitive. There is a reason that there are no reel manifolds that are made from chlorine proof materials and a reason that the reel manufacturers will tell you that if you can come up with something, they want to know about it...it is a huge problem for them.

While the manifold is pretty much impossible to make chlorine proof, it IS possible to have the reel frame and parts made totally chlorine proof. Just have them vapor deposit coated in Titanium or Tantalum. That would make for a super chemically resistant reel! If anybody is interested, order a reel uncounted and I can get pricing on having it vapor deposit coated. POR15 is another serious option as an undercoat with a top coat paint. It is highly chemically resistant. There are also some specialty chemical coatings that can be painted on....though they run about $500 per gallon.

The manifold-less design solves the corroding manifold problem by eliminating the problem. This design relies on the reel being inherently stronger structurally. You are eliminating a structural element...the center axle and thus the remainder of the reel needs to be strong enough to hold the weight and withstand the stresses. That is why Hannay is the choice. Their reels go on military vehicles and ships and fire apparatus worldwide. They are engineered to be stronger from the start and they have a custom reel division that makes specialty reels such as this.

Are they electric? No. I do have electric versions available. See a post I did in this forum a few posts back which has electric versions. I don't recommend doing these in electric since for the cost, you are better getting the ultra heavy duty versions (200E, 300E,mor 400E). Electric rewind puts a lot of strain on the reel frame and you want he heavier structure the bigger versions bring. Are they more expensive than an equivalent Titan or Steel Eagle? No. They have a higher initial *price*, but the better build quality and the fact that you won't ever need to worry about leaking or replacing manifolds means they *cost* less over their lifetime. Buying Quality means a higher initial investment and a lower average cost.
