Water Hose Lenth

Residential and Commercial Pressure Washing Specia
How long of a water hose does everyone use? I have been told not to use over 100 feet if possible. If there is good water pressure can I use 150 or 200 feet of hose? I have a 4gpm 4000 psi hot water machine with a 13hp honda.

Thanks for your help

He may be running w/out any tank.

I have ran up to 400 ft of 1/2 inch R2 hose.

Just a note, the longer the hose the pressure would drop. If you are using 3/8 inch, you will loose heat at a faster rate then 1/2. If your pump is not a commercial design, you would put un do stress on the pump.

May I suggest a 1/2inch line for 1/3 ( and if possible 2/3 ) of the distance then drop down to 3/8. Your system will work less to acquire the same spec's and love ya just a bit more with less down time.

I have one industrial pump that since I went to 1/2 inch line with an open gun, has not been rebuilt for 14 years. My sub rebuilds his every three to four years.

Something to be said about that.

Thats my 2 cents !

I run a straight 150' hose. Why do you guy's run so much hose? I have never had a problem reaching anything at that lenghth? The only time i have to add a few feet is on a residential job.

Thats to much hose to be messing with every nite, so i guess my hose is not as long as yours..

My bad i thought you meant pressure hose..:D I carry no water hose.

I carry 150ft of water hose....If the water supply is further than that I don't need the job that bad....

I use 150'. If you are using a water tank with you 4gpm unit you shouldn't have a problem with using 200-300' of hose. Do you have a water tank?

I'm sorry, I did not read the thread right. I thought pressure hose as well.

Water hose inlets, we can use up to 600+ ft ( If needed ) of 1.5 inch fire hose to keep up with both pumps. Garden hose's are not high enough volume (GPM's). A garden hose usually rates at 5 to 8.5 GPM's at 60 psi. The farther you are away from the faucet, the lower your GPM's are. Thats why we have to use a fire hose at 85+ GPM's at 125 psi. Takes 3 to 4 minutes to fill up our tank.

When doing a garage, our filtration uses a 1.5 inch fire hose to discharge the waste from the filter to the sewer. This run can be as long as 550 ft or more. We designed the discharge unit to run 8 city blocks for discharge if need be. In all the years we have been filtering, we only burned up the discharge pump once. Motor is still good, pump is not.

If you hook a 3/4 hose up to a hydrant, I can assure you it will keep up.

If i filled the 600 gal tank up first, then ran 3 8gpm machines it would still drain the tank in 1hr's time.
