Warning Signs

Here is a sign I had made, actually two of them, to post when we are doing jobs and while work is in progress. I plan to post these in the neighbors yards or put them inside my traffic cones around my rig. I will of course ask permission when posting in neighbor yards, which just gives me another excuse to knock on their doors and introduce myself. Thinking it will slow traffic down a little more to take a look at what we are doing.

What do ya think? Good Idea? Bad Idea? Stupid Idea? Go ahead I can take it.

The only thing I see that is wrong with it is that I didn't think of it first. Haha! I LOVE. it. That will surely get peoples attention. Here's your sign!

That is not a bad idea, also wish I would have thought of it first. hahahahaha

Maybe have the sign company give discount pricing and have a lot of them done and sell them?

good idea. the only thing i see that might draw a complainer is the word "caution" seems like a red flag to me and makes it seem like you need to have everyone out of the area. might use a more inviting word. just saying

The caution worries me. I think people could think of hazardous materials or something like that. Bright orange sign with all the text except caution I think might be better. Maybe do roof cleaning ahead

I like it just always worry what others may perceive that aren't in our biz or think like us

I have told a couple of contrators of the same idea. Setting one in front of the rig and one behind. I was thinking a red sign 4' by 4' (stop sign look alike ) With what is going on and a call of action of 10% off if you stop and sign up on the spot.

With full color printers there is no need in stealing signs........

I like the sign just the way it is..
..just cheesy enough to "soften the "salesy" effect.

but..
put a sign on your rig that says "10% off special on today" .. in big READABLE letters

I see both ideas being tried by 'yall real soon..
post your results !

Yeah I thought and thought and thought some more about the "Caution" word. But I really wanted to enforce the slowing down mentality and also get across the point that the work I am doing does require caution and safety. I am thinking the neighbors will really like the fact that I am helping to increase safety on their street as we are working. Nice thing about this is I can have some made up that read anything I want. I will probably have some made for "ROOF CLEANING" only, "DRIVEWAY CLEANING" only "HOUSE WASHING" only "OIL/RUST STAIN REMOVAL" etc etc.

I got the idea from a guy named Steve that I have been helping by phone as I am advising him on getting his business started. He told me about it a couple weeks ago and this weekend I had a tile roof cleaning job on a very busy street that leads to thousands of homes in my area. For this job we used these signs and also set up a tent and grill and grilled hot dogs and gave away free water for people that wanted to stop by. I went onto the local BBS forums for neighborhoods and invited people to stop and see a roof cleaning in action and ask questions if they wanted.

Got quite a few leads this way and several told us how much they liked the signs. What really helped was the railroad crossing bars malfunctoned just up the road from where we were causing a 2 hour traffic slow down right where we were at.Traffic Slowdow.JPG

Appreciate all the input and keep em coming.

Hmmmm did the railroad crossing bars really malfunction LOL. If they work go for it. Sometimes I over think things and worry to much
