Want to ask about nom solicitation signs.

If you are not already doing business in the neighborhood, I would steer clear. A better idea would be to get the mailing addresses and send them postcards in the mail.

I say better to beg forgiveness than ask permission. I've been yelled out in a bunch of neighborhoods, but that's all it is, getting yelled at. You just say have a nice day and leave.

Id prefer not to be yelled at by anyone. Usually the homeowners who do the yelling are part of the HOA in some way, and talk to others. Better to play it safe w/ the no soliciting signs.

I really dont. I have found a couple by googleing the neighborhood name, but the results are spotty at best.

Another way is to lookup all property management companies in your area, and look on their websites to find the neighborhoods they manage. But again, not all of the companies list their neighborhoods.

Chris, try to get a hold of someone who lives there in anyone of these communities and see if they have a contact # of someone on the board. Once you do that see if they have a news letter. Most hoa's and such have news letters that go out to H/O's every month or so. It may run you a couple of dollars to advertise in their news letter but it's usually worth it. :)

Chris, It is better to get refferals than complaints from homeowners in gated and association type communities. It takes a little patience but it pays off nicely when it all comes together. Just like the others suggested, ask the homeowners for contact info for the association board, get on their newsletter. Clean up your pro looking rig and drive through these neihborhoods regularly. The more they see you and hear good things about the better your chances. Check the main entrances for a posting board. They will post meetings etc. on these. Give me a call if you have any questions,
Kemp

Most happy customers will send a testimonial for the HOA newsletter. An ad in the newsletter is usually very cheap and very effective. They clip the ads and save them. Many communities have retired people with a lot of time on their hands and will have a fit if you solicit. The upside is they usually tell all their friends if you do a good job.

I don't know about you guys, but when I started my business, I didn't have time to wait for someone to see my truck or hear about us from their neighbor. I needed to pay rent the next day.

Virtually all of the places I work in are "no soliciting" in some form or another. If I let that stop me, I would have never made it.

I agree sending mailers and networking are far better in the end, but this also takes time and is marketing that builds on itself. I may be wrong, but I think when a business owner is handing out flyers door to door, they need the work. Sometimes you just gotta make it happen! There is always going to be someone that gets pissed at you.
