Vibrating hose

I've got a TS2021 pump and the hose is vibrating under load and in by-pass so I replaced o-rings and valves, which usually fixes it, but not this time. Will worn packing cause this vibrating too? I don't seem to have any leaks in the water supply and the filter is free of debris. I've also noticed a drop in pressure. There is about 1,900 hours on the pump.

UNLOADER is not working correctly

the unloader could cause pulsating and on a pressure pump it can make a hose jump on vibrate.

you will be best served to replace packings as well. Check the pump oil and see if its milky. On second thought, just order a new pump and chunk the old one. At 1900hrs, the head could be wallered out, or there will be something else in the near future that you will have to replace it because of. After that many hours, I would just trash it and get another pump. To be sure its not the unloader go ahead and get a new one of those while your at it. Replace the inlet hose and filter while your at it as well.

This would fall into the prevenative maintenance category in my opinion because sooner than later something else on that pump will fail.

Thats just my opinion on this, you could fix it but your waiting on the next time it causes you to miss work because of it

The unloader valve is not seating itself fully and is vibrating. Just get a new one. If the pump has 1900 hrs on I would say you have pretty much broken even on it as far as cost vs earnings.

Torn high pressure seal.

This is your problem I would be willing to bet. As far as replacing the pump, if nothing else is wrong I would get some new packings and keep on running it. I have General pumps with way more hours than this! If they haven't been changed recently, I would order the packings with new brass. This should get it back running like a new one for a good bit less.

I've had the Comet, AR pumps and the General TS2021 Pump is by far the best pump I've ever had. I have over 1,000 hours on mine and just change the oil once every 200 to 250 hours on it.

Putting a new seal kit in today or tomorrow.

The new seal kit fixed the problem. Works like charm again. Thanks Guys.

Another simple thing to check, in the future is the valves. A pump will behave the same way if a little rock gets stuck in a valve.

C'mon, catch up...
