Vanguard 31 HP Reliability?

Hi all

I have been looking at the Hydrotek hot water skid with the 31 HP engine. I have heard that there are reliability issues with this engine, mostly regarding the valves and needed adjustment on them regularly.

Has anyone had this or any other issues with this engine?

cannot speak for the 31 HP but the 16's Vtwin suck in my opinion. To top it off they're warranty is about worthless. I would suggest Honda or Kohler personally.

I have a 35 hp Briggs, 1500 hours and have only done oil changes and basic maintenance. The big block briggs are built beefier then the smaller guys, so in terms of reliability it will be better then just the v twin. To give you an idea the 23 hp v-twin is 77 lbs and the big block 25 hp is 125 lbs. My biggest gripe is the oil filter and the mess it can make when changing it out.

Why not get a kohlor or honda with smaller footprint and produce more hp and torque.Save more fuel ect.
