Hi
I am trying to clean a wood floor in the back of a small box truck that was used to haul show dogs. The floor has a heavy urine smell.I tried using zep deodorizing cleaner, then I tried scented bleach,I then tried professional strength lysol. The urine smell is still present.I am thinking about using an enzyme type cleaner but am unsure if it could penetrate into the wood.Has anyone had any luck with this type of situation?I need to neutralize the smell before the floor is painted.Thank you in advance for any help in this matter.

get a couple bags of charcoal bricket's[kingsford] and break them up and spread them out over the floor, let dwell for 3 day's.
Then sweep up.
sounds crazy, dont it?
then apply a good sealer.
The pee need's to drawn out, not rinsed out.
charcoal absorbs moisture and trap's oder's
Work's great in damp basement's or leaky car trunk's also.

A bacteria / enzyme odor elimination chemical applied once a day for about a week should do the trick. The bacteria will soak into the wood and "eat" the urine residue that is causing the odor.

If you do the Charcoal briquette thing, make sure that you don't use the Easy light version. You want just straight old fashioned briquettes..

Hi
I Went to Petsmart today and bought a gallon of Natures Miracle. It's an enzyme based cleaner and they said there is a money back guarantee ,but it has to dry first.I really like the charcoal idea Ron,it absolutely makes sense.I think they use charcoal in filters, and shoe inserts for foot odor.I will be putting down the charcoal tomorrow.I really appreciate everyones input. I will let you know how I make out.
THANK YOU

I contacted the previous owner, and he told me there is a double floor .The original floor, insulation and the plywood floor over that (the whole box is insulated and air conditioned ,it came out of florida).I removed the top floor and the insulation, and the original floor was in excellent shape with no smell at all.I cleaned it with some bleach and hot water and it came out perfect.I really appreciate everyones ideas, they were all good, and I'm very glad to get rid of that smell. The rest of the truck is great,it's a diesel ud (nissan) with a six cylinder diesel,18' custom box with aluminum storage boxes underneath the whole length of the box on both sides, with a generator box also ,and a class IV custom made air ride trailer hitch and a new clutch, and now no smell!!!! Thanks for all the help . JIM
