Ms Awesome
So...I got up this morning to a temp of 8 degrees with a "feels like" of ZERO!! THIS IS GA! We don't have that kind of weather here...that is why I stay here. My vehicle is not prepared for the super cold weather and did not want to start. I kept quoting Katt Williams: "I got $h!t I got to do today!" lol

Just wondering who else had fun this morning.

I have been in that cold area a few times, around this time of year I would make sure that the battery terminals are good and clean and full of water the nite before.

If your battery is old or weak, I would replace it just because of the harsh winters some areas have. We don't have it that bad but once in a while it will get into the 20's or a little colder.

They used to sell a "warming blanket" for the battery a while back, maybe worth looking into if it is going to be that cold for a while.

Good Luck.

Thank you :) I do need to check that...but I am thinking of replacing the whole truck...lol Just can't get myself talked into having payments again.

Battery is cheaper than a car payment....
Just run it by one of the auto zone type stores and they will test it for free . We did that with my wife's suburban and it needed a new battery. ( after 6 years a 90 dollar battery is OK) It lated 8 months and it went south but the warranty covers it so just ride in and got a new one installed in 15 mins.

What are you gonna do if it gets cold? -14 here this morning. -32 in Chicago. 48 above in Anchorage Alaska go figure.

This global warming is killing me.

Also make sure you don't fill the water the night before unless it's started and allowed to charge several times after filling. It has to get into solution. I did it once and the battery was split in half the next morning.

I was thinking about all you guys while on a roof today.

As sweat rolled down into the plumbers abyss, I wondered.....wouldn't it be nice to live in say...Chicago....or Sioux Falls.....then I snapped out of it and thought "nah".

mine wouldnt crank this morning either. It is an f350 and come to find out there is a small hole in the fuel filter cap. The hole was letting it suck air and not fuel. So after I drained both batteries and hooked another truck to it, she finally cranked. This cold wether sucks.

I have been lucky. I use to live in Colorado with the same truck I have now and have had no problems.

It is a little Ford Ranger. It has been great to me.

Yup...still got the beast. Just can't seem to part with it. 262,000 miles. They don't make them like they used to!!! BTW - I put some better gas in it because the Ranger was doing the same thing and it cranks a lot easier now. I guess I got to quit being so cheap. lol

Which filter cap Ash?Top of motor or under the drivers seat?

Block heater is a huge help with the 6.0 on cold mornings.Set it on a timer to come on about 2 hrs before you are going to leave for the day the and is starts so much easier.

I just plug it in when its 20 or below and she cranks like a champ. My gas trucks have never had a problem either.
There was one time when it was -10 and my diesel gelled up me, what a mess.

Its just fine once it gets warmed up.
