Finally had to update my Ford e 250 van. It just wasn,t heavy duty enough to pull my new 16 ft trailer. Found a cherry 99 F 350 7.3 Diesel Automatic thats getting 17.8 MPG.....

Looks great Gene. That 7.3 is the best diesel that was ever put in a Ford truck. Hopefully I'll get my truck back either today or tomorrow. The dealer is estimating the total repair bill will be at least $23K all covered under warranty though.

My 1996 E450 box truck averages 10 mpg on the way down from Wisconsin, driving up and down hills, lots of wind but it still got 10 mpg.

My 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 quadcab gets 22-25 on the highway, 14 to 18 pulling my trailer full of water and chemicals (325 gallon water tank and 3 of the 30 gallon chemical tanks) besides the equipment that is on the trailer. Cummins is a great diesel engine.

I had a truck very similar that I bought brand new. I had it for about a year and a half, and loved it. Unfortunately, they do not hold up well to ambulances at 40 MPH.

Vince, what happened/went wrong with your truck? That's a lot of $!

Well I have to be honest almost 18 on Hwy.....Will pull trailer tomorrow and ck but Im looking for at least 14 pulling a trailer......Also 1 ton single wheel, Hypertek programmer air bags, and I do not haul more than 150 gal of water.....will report back tomorrow after a good 200 mile run.....

Just letting you know I hate you lol I wish we were getting that good of MPG:) The Cummings all get great fuel mileage but the power strokes are horrible for MPG. Mine is a dully with a service bed so I'm sure that doesn't help. Which rear end gear ratio do you have?

Wow, seriously? My V6 Toyota pulling my little rig only gets about 12-13 MPG. About 15 without the trailer.

It was a engine failure at only 44,600 miles. Ford suspects a exhaust valve cracked or broke and took out the engine. When the engine went it also took out the turbo, intake manifold, egr, intake cooler, radiator schroud (don't know if the dealer broke the shroud or what happened with it.

The dealer called me today and told me they should have had it up and running late today and I should get it back tomorrow.

The only good part about this whole deal is my wife has already said I can get a new truck once this one hits 100,000 miles and it's out of warranty. I don't know if I'll go to Dodge or what I'll get next.
