tralier hitches

Simple question about trailer hitches.

What kind do you use and why?

I have a bulldog and find it never releases from the ball, I have to jump up and down several times on the truck to get it to unhitch.

Is this normal for those of you that use this type of hitch?

I figure on replacing it with another type, what type is the question.

What would you recommend?

Thanks for your help on this non pressure washing matter.

Jon

Jon,

I have a Bulldog on my trailer and have the same issue. I suppose I had rather have it hard to release than to have it releasing on its own. LOL

Supposedly, Bulldog hitches are the best. I don't really know since this one is all I have ever messed with. It seems very durable and is working out great, it just is tough to uncouple at the end of the day.

Jon,

try the Hammer Blow corporation ,Wausau, Wisconsin 54401

This is were mine came from!

they may have a web site!

Mellow 44,

Thanks for the lead, they do have a web site and it

is:http://www.hammerblow.com/

Warren, the other trailer I had was standard ball hitch, no problems but always worried it would pop off going over some steep bump or dip.

I am going back to the trailer dealer tomorrow to see what they can do for me, might replace with a new one, might replace with another type of hitch. Then again might do nothing for a bit longer since it is only 4 month old. Long enough to have loosened up I would think.

Thanks

Jon

Hey Jon,
I love Buudog hitches. I would put a little grease on it to see if the improves the problem. They really are a better type of hitch, in my opinion.

Scott and others, that is just what the dealer said to do, grease it up and give it a few days to work in.

He did say if it does not get better he would replace the hitch with a new one but could not see anything wrong with it.

Now he tells me about grease.

Thanks,

Jon

i've never tried a bulldog hitch........but I've hit some pretty good bumps/dips with my standard ball hitch and it has never come off............trailer even caught air once. That's Pennsylvania roads for ya.

As you guys might know the only thing we pull around is our blaster.

It weights about 5500 pounds.

I have often wondered why you folks don't use 5th wheel type systems! Seems that they would be easier to get around and be able to carry more weight safer! Also be able to have higher ground clearance.
