Too many hours????

Been looking for a used skid and wondering if you guys can give me an idea how many hours I can expect out of a skid before I start having major problems. I know there are all kinds of factors just wondering if I should stay away from something with a good amount of hours on it when everything seems well maintained and working. How many hours guys are getting out of theirs,etc.???
 
I have a couple that have about 3000 hours, but I consider them low hour machines. I have one that is well over 7000 hours on the pump and motor, but that is a bit unusual. Personally, I figure about a 4000 hour life for a machine, which is double what the engines are usually rated for. I have no problem dropping a new engine or pump on a frame to extend the life. As long as the frame is solid, the rest is easily repaired or replaced.

WoW 7 thousand hours thats great. I have 2 tsf2021 pumps that i know have alot of hours on them but never have had a hour meter on those machines.
 
Lots of variables, I'd take a well maintained machine with 5,000 hours on it over a neglected machine with 1,000 hours on it.

I've got at least a couple all very well maintained diesel skids over in Kuwait I sold in 2003 with over 10,000 hours on them that are still running strong.
 
If they are maintained the hours can mean very lttle. Motors and pumps wear out. Look at the details, does it leak? does the head show signs of leaking either oil or water. Are the wires faded/corroded/spliced from hack repairs? Is the coil and insulation in good shape? It all depends.
