Today's demo didn't go well!

I tried doing a free demo today on a "To Go" doorway at a local restaurant, and i'm quite disappointed with the results.


On the first attempt i downstreamed Potassium Hydroxide, thinking that it would cut the grease. I went back an hour later and d/s'd SH 10%...

I really want this job, so i will be going back for a third attempt.

Don't downstream anything. Put your soap on straight and it will do the work - it's the only way at an area like that. Im sure PH works but SH will do any job. If you don't have your 'mix' yet, get a brand name soap and add SH.
 
You can down stream if your setup correctly, this setup will vary depending. But as mentioned previously apply directly (for now) learn what mix will cut the stain/grease then go from there.

I would down stream it also. I do all the time........good luck
 
downstream or apply direct, just depends on preference

If you like Potassium Hydroxide then try adding sodium hydroxide to the mix also make sure if it is cooler (LESS than 60 degrees) you downstream with hot water or mix your mix on site so that the heat rise will help, sodium and potassium hydroxide have a wonderful heat rise

I usually downstream but if I were doing a demo on a spot that bad I would probably use a pump up sprayer with hot water and allow for a little dwell time and only clean half the spot so they can see what you did, after they see what was done clean the rest then get the signature!

How bout shooting it with a hot foam mix POTASH/SH :ignore: It's fun!

When i posted earlier, i meant to say that i downstreamed a Potassium Hydroxide Solution...

I'm alittle confused about the "mix" suggestions, though.
Isn't Potassium Hydroxide, Potash? If so, about what ratio of SH should i be mixing with the degreaser?

Also, i've been alittle hesitant about watering down the concrete and applying the 217-HD full strength, because it tends to leave a white film that WILL NOT rinse out! After the concrete dries and i water it again, the white spots re-appear.


I plan on going back soon to keep from "losing face", and with the help from you all, i'm confident that the GM will sign.

Jim, WTF brother? I see/know what your trying to accomplish. Step away from the premixed crap, I've used it and would only recommend it as a mouthwash.

I have a few Culver's restaurants that we do that have that same staining all along the sidewalk where they bring food out to the cars. I do downstream most of the time for drive up and large areas but you can only get so concentrated with that and have a great deal of water as well and the dwell time isn't nearly as long. For spots like that I always have my trusty electric portable sprayer (like a deckster only homemade much cheaper) That way I can put a little stronger mix (SH) and it will dwell longer and not run so much as it has a more sudsy consistency. Works great
 
I agree with the others apply, dwell hot water wash. For a demo or these bad spots you may want to apply with a pump op sprayer as mentioned to get your mix a little stronger. Not necessarily full strength but a higher concentration than you can get from your downstream injector.

I'd take Ron up on his offer, I'm sure you may learn a thing or two.
