thrive in down economy

I've been brainstorming for biz purposes (and other reasons) and trying to think of what types of biz do well in slow economies/recession. I think economy will be sluggish until around '11, so trying to think forward.

There was a post on here a few weeks ago....lotta commerical cleaners complaining about restraunts closing down....got me thinking, most of the restraunts they listed were sit-down, nicer dinner places (outback, houlihans, ruby, etc). Okay---so if those places are going downward, it makes sense to me that lower cost food (fast foods) would do better! Or maybe people aren't eating out at all.....this would be grocers would be putting up better numbers! At least, this is my thinking.

So anyone else wanna brainstorm on what co's will do well in the next couple years?? Not just for the sake of cleaning, but stocks, etc.

I think it is interested to evaluate this sort of thing......you might now catch the wave this time, but you'll be ready with ideas 10-13yrs from now when it cycles back around. Thoughts??

The company I worked for before being a greaser will do very well in slow times. Coffee!!! Even when you have no money, you can still get a cup of Joe for a buck. I'm not talking about the fu fu stuff at StarCrap either. I'm talking about real coffee.

J-Fi...I sent you an email with the NASDAQ symbol.

I heard hood cleaning isn't a bad business in a recession. People always eating out and it can't be overlooked.
