This place is a problem waiting to happen.
18 hoods and ducts all with the ansul wire running right through the tops of the ducts.
The conduit is running all over the roof in every direction.
Just lean on one or trip over one and POOF!

Mr. Gibson,

Not sure if I would even bid a problem child like that one. Can't wait to hear Matt's comments on that one or even Grant's for that matter.

Maybe you could get the customer to sign a waiver.

"If the suppression system is actuated during the cleaning process ABC Company will not be held liable due to the low ball jerry riging installation of fire suppression system. "

Here's for ya " True Story " picture says it all.

Is that one link line running through all 18 ducts? If so, is there a link in each duct? What brand system? Wet, Dry, UL300? Who's tag is on the system? And most importantly what city is this place in?

There is a link in every duct. The line runs accross the top of each duct.
Simplex Grinell put the system in. The place is about 1 year old and the tag is overdue by about 4 months.
Can't remember what type of system it was.
City of San Dimas.

One of the local rag n tag fire system companies installed a new system in a place and within a month they had a fire and the system didn't work. Upon investigation, the new system did not have a detection line in the hood/plenum, the manual pull did not work and the gas valves were not hooked up to the system. I'm guessing that they didn't pull a permit for the install.

Just because Simplex-Grinnel is the largest fire suppression service company in hte world does not mean anything. See in the news that the CEO of TYCO is in court for theft?

Why would any one run the detector cable in the top of hte duct? None of the companies I am certified to service require that set up in the service manuals. Years ago, we were allowed to put the detectors as much as 20 feet downstream, but the top of the duct? Were the specs for the system written by an archetech?
