I have actually read that post a number of times. It is one of the reasons that I don't use sodium hydroxide on a shingle roof.
I think the real test should be to ask a shingle manufacturer if they would recommend using a sodium hydroxide based chemical to clean the roof products and would they still honor a warranty afterwards.
Our Roof-A-Cide™has actually been tested and approved by GAFMC, one of the largest roof shingle manufacturers in the country and we are in the process of having it tested by several other manufacturers and ARMA.
