Terrazo tile cleaning down in Panamá

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share some of our before and after pics, done with our mosmatic roof cleaner. This type of roof is very common down here, but people had no idea as to go around cleaning them.

We have been very blessed with business in these difficult times, and are always looking to do new things.

Just out of curiosity, how much do you charge for your services? What does it average per hour? You can use panamanian money, if you like. I am just trying to see where your area is in relation to the US.

Scott, panamanian money is equivalent to the us dollar:) in fact it is our circulating currency since 1903. For a large house, one full day´s work, we charge $350. Smaller, half day´s work we charge $250. Anything over that, it depends. We do this with a principal and a helper. I just supervise. We pay all insurances, which for the local market is very uncommon. Our competition is people that get on roofs, no harnessing, with a little broom and clorox. So it takes a little convincing but people quickly see the value, little or none broken tiles, you get what you expect, etc.

Are you planing on moving on over here?;)

The mosmatic we use is a roof surface cleaner. Works wonders.

Didn´t want to deal with the runoff, people are extremely picky, and having a "hose man" thats very reliable is not an option right now.

Do all the houses have those scary bars on the windows?

Hi Tecniclean,

We are a roof cleaning company in Tampa FL. On an average week we clean about 20 roofs, many of them barrel tile like the one's in the pictures.

Tile roof cleaning runoff is very easy to manage with a few systems put into place and the correct mix ratio. We use a 3-4% solution containing sodium hypochlorite and TSP, with no problems.

Even without a "hoseman", simple systems put into place will enable you to spray a roof with one man.

You should look into purchasing a roof cleaning kit from ptek if you don't already own one. His systems are easy to put together and will spray with professional results.

I would love to talk with you, if you want to talk shop for a little while call me

Good Luck!

There are other ways to clean those roofs than the way you are doing them now and a lot less dangerous.

If you are willing to learn a better, safer way, read the info here and on other bbs's about roof cleaning.

I use surface cleaners all the time but would not use them on a roof, too risky and dangerous but that is just me.

I promote no-pressure and low-pressure cleaning.

If you look around, you will see another way, you might like it better but that is up to you.

Chris and Peerless,

I appreciate your input about no-pressure cleaning. We started this service this way because clients asked for it and we had our powerwasher. Now that i now that there are other methods, we will look into them, specially if there are cost savings and safer for our employees and clients roofs.

Peerless, i will call you as soon as i´ve a chance, probably next week. What is the best time to call?

Thanks again all!

There really is a wealth of information on these boards. I feel like I know a lot about cleaning roofs and I don't even do them! :D
