I talked to Ron on the phone briefly today asking him about maybe having a RT in the Knoxville Tn area (Gatlinburg Pigeon Forge)
He asked me how long I have been in the biz... I told him 6 years on my own but have been around it with my dad since I was a little kid.. I told him I can remember going to wash K-marts store fronts and having to plug up the machine.. my dads 1st machine was a 1000@3 110 whitco... At the time dad drove a tractor trailer and figured out he could make more money washing them than drive'em... I can remember washing house's and the only place we could plug up the machine was at the dryer cause it would kick breakers everywhere else.. I need to scan some of my old pictures and share them..
Ron said most people didn't believe him about using 110 machines to wash with in the old days... Gas machines haven't been around a long time.. So all you newbies have got it made...lol there was no hose reels, quick couplers, down streams, most machines back in the day had those little blue Hypro pumps on them... there was no standing on the ground washing 2 story house's it all was done with white knuckle grip on a 40' ladder. most chems was put on with a pump up sprayer cause you couldnt run most of them through the pump (before all these regulations there was some MEAN chemicals on the market stuff would burn a hole in you just by looking at it..lol).. one little thing I remember about the old days once we started using quick couplers the O rings lasted forever.. not like now a days it seems like I change them at lest once a week...
