Taking Coil Apart

My baffle inside my coil is burned through and needs welded. My water temp is only getting to 135 deg.

Is it hard to take the coil out of the housing?

These are two pics of what my coil needs to look like.

these are easily fixable. Run it by a welding shop and ask them to make you a new one of 1/4 plate and this won't happen again especially if they are good with a mig.

What he said. That is a 15 minute job at best The welder will spend more time grining for a clean weld than the welding will take.

may be able to fix

my first reply was about fixing a leak. my bad, i didn't read your post thoroughly. have it fixed locally. a new coil plus shipping is in the excess of $500.

good luck,

That baffle is a wear-part, at least in my coil. I've burnt through two replacement 1/4" plates. I didn't have to take the housing off the coil just take the ends off and tack it on, try and weld to a mount or some of the old plate instead of the pipe itself. Quick and easy job.

Here's what I took out recently

I would recommend taking it to someone to has experience in welding coils. I've never had to have mine welded but my welder is only about 15 minutes away from me and he has alot of experience in welding coils.
