swabby for sale on craiglist

Parker West, (Cathy) just sent me an offer on the exact same one for 70k last night. I guess she wanted to make $5,000 + on me since they are asking 65k for the unit and are willing to take less.

Here is the email that was sent to me.

Watch her folks, she's a Business Women on a mission !!!!

Hello Jim –

There is a demo 2008 Swabby 48 Driving Pressure Washers/vacuum recovery/wastewater recycling system that has just been put on the market. The owner paid $125,000 for it last year and has only 9 hours on it. It is available for $70,000.

It is down in So. CA. Thought you or someone else in the garage cleaning business would be interested. The driving mechanism can clean up to 80,000 square feet a shift, which reduces labor costs compared to conventional hand held tools. See attached photos and videos.

Let me know if you are interested.

Best Regards,

Cathy Parker

Funny how everyone is out to make a buck off of you especially when they have your best interest in mind.

Probably what folks say about us when they buy a pressure washer, imagine anyone out to make a buck. We should all be in a not for profit business.

Yea, I will be game for that as soon as you are. I ment that for her relaying the message over to Jim she wants 5,000.00. I would love to pass along a contract to you that will net me 5k just for emailing you about. And I am sure you would like the same in return. Who wouldn't?

Can you really do quality cleaning at the rate of 80,000 sf per shift with one of those things? And what would a shift be classified as?

Keep in mind thats the whole system. If you already have a steel eagle vac (or similar) and a decent pressure washer then 15,000 is all you need for the driveable unit. Parker west calls it the zipper.

Yes you can clean 80,000 a night with recovery. I do it often.

Could I come up some time and check it out in action?

I think that the point here is that the unit is not her's to sell. She saw the add or found out about it and approached me to make an easy 5k or more.

Guys and ladies, I am all for making a buck, however, she should have approached the owner of the rig and made a financial agreement with him that she would make the 5k if she brought someone over to buy it.

Look it ... its like when I bought my 2nd home. I went through a real estate agent. She found the home before it went on the market. She did not raise the price so that she could make extra money on it. The house was not even on the market yet, but she found it and the sales price was already to be announced the next day. The next day I made the offer for 35,000 below market price. She did not raise her commission up 35k. No, instead she got her 3% of the final sales price from the seller of the home.

When I give 10% to anyone who gets us a garage at .24 a ft, I do not raise the price to the client because I have to pay a commission. Their commission comes from the sale and is not added onto the agreed .24 price. It is already included.

If Cathy wanted to make a buck, that’s fine. That is not the issue here; instead it’s the approach that’s in questioned.

However, this could be that Cathy had an agreement already. That if she was to help sell the unit for 70k, that she was to get a cut from that, but then the seller decided to advertise it for less. If this is the case, then it needs to be known for Cathy’s sake.

Lesson learned; don’t try to make a buck off someone else’s equipment. If that’s the case, buy it at a reasonable price, keep it for a while, and then sell high. It’s cleaner for everyone concerned.

Are you sure its the same unit? I know it would be a wild coincidence if it was not the same, but have you made sure?

Or this guy may have said can you try and sell it for me? And I will try and sell it, and if you sell it first you can have the extra $5k?

I didn't know this was just an email referral. I thought it was a factory demo from where she worked.

I talked to Cathy about 2 weeks ago. She mentioned a slightly used model available in southern California. I forget the price she quoted me. Not ready to speand that kind of money anyways.

Thought it was strange since we had communicated a week earlier and she didn't have much good to say about the Swabby, was trying to sell me the Zipper unit really bad. Apparently the Parker system, including the zipper, are manufactured here in Arizona.

They must be made by Cyclone over in Tempe. It figures, they seem to be cut of the same cloth.

Actually I think she said they were manufactured in Payson or Prescott.

Their newer units are manufactured by cyclone which is owned by blueline. I was told the cyclones heat exchanger system can heat the water up well past 240 degrees.
