Problem with my surge brakes activating on my trailer when I back up. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Your lucky.....they are working like they should.
When backing hy. loads or backing up a small incline your wheels are going to spin in gravel and grass with that type brake system....was dat a trick Q'tion uh.

Mike why not let Ron P mod this section too,he's knows more than I do on things like this.
add Scott to the list too,he even knows how to work on clocks, wonder if coo-coo clocks.

I've seen fender benders b/c someone forgot to put the little lever back in braking order,in a hurry you or your employee's will forget it,,may never happen to you but it could...odds it will if unlocking and locking.

There should be alittle lever that deactivates ths surge system when you back up. What happens and how the system operates is that the hitch, and the trailer are on a slider. If you will notice there is a little hydraulic setup that actuates teh brakes when you apply the trucks brakes, and the trailer tends to stay in motion. That compresses the hydraulic fluid and applies the brakes. When you back up, it is working the same way. It is compressing the hydraulic fluid, and applying the brakes. So the little lever is a lockout that prevents the brakes from being applied.

(want to know what time it is, andI'll tell you how a clock works)

Scot,

I believe that lever you are refering to is damaged. Any idea where I can find a replacement?
