Surface cleaners

They say you can't beat a dead horse, well why not?

My Big Guy is dying rather fast on me, was just fine two weeks ago, went to replace spinner bar and it will not budge, then I noticed the base is splitting off from the top, no point in welding it, last week had the handle break and welded it back.

There comes a time when repairs cost as much as replacement.

I do love the Whisper Wash Big Guy but feel it time to try another brand.

Now the problem, I set limits on how much I would spend for something like a surface cleaner. Most sell for around $700 to $895.

If Landa makes a 28" or 30" one for that price I would consider it, but would not pay for one when for the same price you could buy two.

Also Steel Eagle makes a 24" stationary and one adjustable.

So do tell if Steel Eagle and Landa both make adjustable surface cleaners why would they not be fairly equal?

What makes one better then the other if both offer same size and equipment?

I do like the Big Guy inline gun, I don't like single handle as I work fast and would not buy if I cannot try, something truly lacking in our industry, demo's to test or rent.

Anyone close to me willing to let me sample theirs?

I need to order in the next day or two, must have by Jan 8th 2003!

when you buy the landa you will never buy another. have you not seen the ads? I would buy another landa if i needed one.

Jon , you have already bought two, so your right about the price. when you buy the third then i will be ahead. LOL

stop and just buy the landa.... rent one and feel the difference.

nice, i post a question about the BIG GUY and you tell me they are the best. Then you want to jump ship and get a smaller one.
Well mine get's here today.
It was CHUCK looking to get rid of his.
I'll see if the one i got was worth the $500 or it's going back to e-bay.
$1100 for the landa, just was not ready to spend that much.
Jon where did you buy the parts for the big guy?

Ron M. I have only bought the one I am using, it is 5 years going on 10 or more, I abuse the heck out of it and all of a sudden everything starts going bad.

Are you thinking of the spinner bars, I have replaced those 3 or 4 times so far and have a spare always.

Ron P. I stand by my word, it is a super machine, just like all my Dodge trucks but I wanted to try another brand so I bought Ford this time, all diesels too!

As with the Big Guy I probably could just replace it with a like machine, I do like the inline straight gun, I made one small change and that was to put a 90° where the hose goes into the spinner, that was so I could get under benches etc.

My biggest concern with the adjustables is not being able to get under things, means more wanding.

Coastal are yours the 2 or 3 nozzle ones?

Back to Ron M. I will not pay $1,500 for a surface cleaner no matter how good it is when most sell for half that plus a little.

I know after tonight I need a new one NOW.

Once I decide and if it is not another Big Guy then I would sell the spinner bar I have, brand new never used.

I am tired, like to check my mail then bed.

Thanks all so far for replying.

I have a big guy, and a Landa, too. I have not yet used the big guy. I like the Landa because of its' size, and that it is light. In my opinion, it is worth the extra money. The big guy I got withthe new traielr I bought. I have not yet used it. I wonder about it, because I have found no zerts to grease it with. The rotary union spins pretty fast not to need a zert, in my opinion. I will use it, and then give it a thorough going over.
Remember, you get what you pay for, and you can compare them side by side if you want to come to Mesa.

I have used both the landa and the 30" steel eagle adjustable surface cleaners. I started off my pressure washing using the landa for about a year and a half. Then bought a used trailer that came with the steel eagle and have never used the landa again. That was about 5 years ago, it now sits in my storage shed.

I have since rebuilt the steel eagle to were it is no longer adjustable. This way it gives me more room to clean under different things. I also never adjusted the height.

just my 2 cents worth.

Decission made, Steel Eagle 30" non adjustable two nozzle spinner bar ordered with spare bar.

Best deal around was Mark from Easy Clean.

Now if he could just learn how to get it to me YESTERDAY I would be very happy, hate waiting till tomorrow for what I need yesterday and a week before I get it!

I need to talk to someone about that:D

Mark charge me extra, never.

He would be more female then male if he did and I found out, or half way to it, I might leave one item on him!

Brett I do my shopping, after ordering I got a call from a local dealer who can get one tomorrow but with the T handle and he wanted $990.

I told him I got that priced beat by over $200 and with the U handle, he said bye. Why is it many don't want your business, because they think that we are going to pay whatever they ask and not shop around or ask for a better price.

Mark knows I call him last, so he already knows I have prices in front of me so he gets right down to business with me, no messing around and wheeling dealing.

First time I dealt with him we did that, he much prefers to make the deal then play the game.

I am not plugging for Mark nor do I get anything for saying it like it is, not that the guy owes me;)

Slight change to the 24" model, more I gave thought to it the more I feel that is the best way to go, 30" would surely cover a bit more ground at one time but also would be tough to get though some tight spots.

Scott I would come down and test yours but had to get one ordered so I can get it, not that I hate rushing when buying things but in this case what could I do?
