I use a 25-tip for my big guy surface cleaner. I have a 5.6gpm rig. Has anyone had any luck using a different set of tips to clean with this equipment? Thanks Hugh

What are the advantages of using a Big Guy with that size machine as compared to a 20" out of curiosity?

You clean a larger path. If it is a regular cleaning frequency (weekly or bi weekly) or if it does not get very dirty, the big guy is great. If it is a high volume location or not a super frequent schedule, you may be better off with the 20 inch.

What I have found is how dirty the location is really determines what you should use.

The big guy seems to work great for the jobs I do. I have been using it on my jobs since 2005. I will agree, some jobs a 20-inch machine would work better but I work with what I have, not worth it to me to buy another surface cleaner right now. Hugh

I have used a Big guy for a while now on a 5.5 gpm machine and can say for sure that a 24' or less is the way to go for 5.5. You will more much faster especially the smaller you go but you get a better cleaning. A sidewalk at a restaurant is less than 4ft wide in most cases so unless your going to use a 48' surface cleaner and make one pass then either way if you use the 24' or 28 you will still have to make two passes to clean the entire sidewalk. If you are doing large areas that are just dirty not greasy and oily then the big guy gets put to use on our 5.5 but if not the 24' is the way to go in my opinion. I have given alot of thought to getting a waterjet for the wheel setup as well as 20'' version

Thanks guys. The way it seems is that having the larger s.c.'er and moving slower is the better trade of for a regular account or an area not that dirty. Anything else, the smaller surfacer is the way to go.

There are a lot of other variables to include in your decision making process like what size hose are you running to your surface cleaner from the hose reel, running hot water or cold or both, what size orifice nozzles, what spray pattern nozzles, how old the nozzles are, how dirty the concrete is, how strong the concrete is, etc......

I only use the big guy on large areas where it is not bad like dumpster pads, on the other stuff I use the 24" or 20" surface cleaners, they will get the job done faster overall when dealing with the very bad stuff and only 5.5gpm machine.
