Stripper.....

I have used both F-18 and HD-80 in the past, looking to re-stock for the season. What other strippers would you recommend???

Thanks,

Connor, those two seem to be the more popular brands. Of those two, which one do you like best and why? Thanks as I look forward to seeing where this thread goes as I have the same question.

I also know a guy that uses Envirospec Powerstroke mixes in a little bit of caustic beads, and the stain melts off, I think he said that he uses 4 oz/ gal and scoop of caustic in a 5er. Interesting being that its not even a stripper, but a concrete cleaner.

Acryllic??

I've had trouble in the past stripping acryllic solid stain from a deck or two. Do the caustics strip that stuff effectively?? I've used a heavy duty deck stripper sold by my local pressure washing outlet in town and it didn't touch it. Finally had to tell people I couldn't do anything with their deck if it was acryllic other than put another solid stain on it. If they wanted to switch to a semi-transparent, I couldn't help them. Is there a viable answer?? Thanks!!

Polypropylene Glycol antifreeze, could someone that has tried this tell me how much more it

It makes it about double strength. We usually add a gallon per 15 gallons of stripper, and downstream. It's a good booster, but don't expect it to melt off a solid acrylic like magic.

F-18 & HD-80 are both good strippers. We used TimberStrip Pro for several years before developing our own mix.

I use Rip It, I have used HD80 in the past but it seemed to cause a lot of fuzzing and I hate sanding decks! I have found a way to remove Acrylic sealers in about 15 minutes though.

I've also got a quick test to see if something is an oil or Acrylic so my guys are bidding the jobs accordingly. Alchohol will remove acrylics, but not oils, so just rub an alcohol swab pad from a first aid across the rail and see what type of stain it is.
